Andersen looks like a fish out of water in his crease whenever there’s traffic. Weekes pointing out he was breaking in a new catching glove, he did drop a lot of glove side shots. Seems crazy to be breaking in new equipment in the conference semis, but I they don’t have a Benny Allaire in NC

Don't wanna be negative on such a great team win tonight but where the hell is Kakko? He has one gimme goal on a horrible turnover by the Caps.
I know the competition is tough but at this point but he's gonna have to be a bit more dangerous in the o zone.
He’s on a line with Cuylle and Wennberg, what the hell do you expect? Let’s see what happens when / if Chytil is reinserted first.

Twitter just demolishing McDonough and ESPN for that call this morning. The Kenny Albert and especially Harnarayan Singh calls of the Trocheck game-winning goal were just head and shoulders better.

Honestly I doubt it reaches enough of a critical mass to have them make any changes this year. Which figures, we will win the Cup and I'll have to spend the next 30 years of my life listening to that bum on highlights.

But hopefully they realize how terrible he is and make a change in the offseason. He cannot keep being the face of ESPN hockey.

That was a weird game tbh. First of all this team is different. Having Igor locked in meant for me that I pretty much knew we were winning when we were within 1 after 2.

But I thought the rangers were not sharp most of that game. They were out of synch, losing focus and not pushing the issue at odd moments pretty much across the board. The third line had a tough night, kakko mostly, but I thought the issues were mostly defensive.

What was clear was that Carolina came out hard and they just couldn't break through on us. Taking a home game from them out of the next two would be too much for them you can tell. This rangers team has something special cooking.

Side thought on Carolina was that for such a league darling they sure have some pretty epic playoff collapses. Am I right in thinking they've been the the ECF 2 times under Rod and have yet to win a game in that round?

Never heard a more boring, uncaring commentator than that clown.

I know some NYR fans bash Sam and Joe but they are so much better than the ESPN announcing crew imo.

Sam gets things wrong at a crazy high rate at this point in his career but he can still conjure up the juice to make really exciting and great calls.

McDonough also gets things wrong CONSTANTLY but then he calls plays like he’s getting a price check on lettuce in the grocery store.

Yeah and whatever the most boring lettuce is, too. Like he only wants Romaine lettuce. He doesn't want field greens or Frisée lettuce.

Just Romaine.

Yuck.

No you wouldn’t. Who needs the first guy over the boards on the pk and critical situations when you can have Zach mfin Jones in the lineup. And yes he was brutal yesterday.
Trouba took 4 penalties yesterday? and was to blame for the giveaway that led to their last goal. the guy can't skate and takes dumb penalties.

ESPN and hockey twitter think it was a weak call. By the book it was a cross-check. Yes it happens plenty of times in the game, but this one happened to catch Trocheck while off-balance and led to a scoring chance the other way, so it needed to be called. No one is discussing the call if the Rangers do not score on the PP, and the conversation is totally different if the Canes score off the turnover.

I don’t think it was significantly worse of a call than the call on Goodrow earlier in the game. And this one was actually going to create a dangerous opportunity for the. Canes the other way. Sour grapes on hockey Twitter…color me shocked.

It's not even a minus 1%.

Coolness is winning.

Eh.

There is definitely something cool about the "This one will last a lifetime!" call by Sam and "The Rangers win the Cup!!" call by Gary Thorne. There is something cool about "Stepan! In Overtime!" by Doc.

McDonough calling this one will take away a little of the nostalgia and replayability for me.
