Stud: Panarin. Our offence will run through him and he'll be our top scorer by a comfortable margin, he might even flirt with 100 if things break right as he'll be on a much better PP than in Columbus.
HM: DeAngelo. It looks like he will continue on his 2019 level of play and be our best 5v5 defenceman. His point totals will depend on his PP role, but I think he'll establish himself as our PP1QB at some point of the season - but like last season he'll have to fight for it and he might be thrid in line to get his shot at it after Trouba and Fox.
Breakout: Buchnevich. Playing in the top-6 5v5 with either Kreider or Panarin on the opposite wing and playing in the Zuccarello role on the PP will greatly boost his scoring output. I wouldn't be surprised to see him place 2nd in team scoring.
HM: Fox. He is going to step into the Shatty role and perform as well as Shatty did in it - which was very well. Due to the difference in expectations people will be extremely impressed and rightly so.
Disappointment: Zibanejad. He is going to play very well, but I think he is going to score less on a better offensive team and that will have many disappointed. He will probably only play with Panarin periodically 5v5 and he has lost his spot on the PP1 which no longer runs through him where he now plays in the bumper role which is generally the player that scores the least on a PP unit. I wouldn't be surprised to see him score less than 65.
HM: Kakko. I hope I'm wrong, but I have a nagging feeling that Kakko may not be the force many seem to be expecting in his rookie season. There is this misconception that the bigger guys are ready to step into the NHL and dominate from day one while the smaller skill guys need time to build themselves up, but I find it's generally the opposite - the power forwards need time while the skill guys have an easier transition. Barkov, Rantanen, Landeskog, Draisaitl, Zibanejad, Puljujärvi, Eric Staal, Rick Nash all needed at least one season and most of them more than that to really break out in the NHL. Barkov had a more impressive draft season than Kakko and was a 0.5 PPG player in each of his first two seasons.
Scrub: Strome. He isn't going to repeat his Sh% from last season and his somewhat respecable scoring will dry up despite good linemates and deployment.
HM: Howden. It seems like Quinn is going to play him above his head again this season. I still like him as a prospect, but I fear he'll once again be a defensive liability in the NHL this year and I think his point production will be lower than last year.
