This Canada team is not very good

This is a pretty miserable team to cheer for, personnel choices aside the team struggles to string more than 2 passes together, sometimes they can't even string together 2, tons of dumb penalties.

The USA game might be close only because Carter George is actually pretty decent.

This game is getting greasy, that was a viscous slash. Refs better keep the clock running in this one, some kids are gonna get hurt out there.

To add - they are fairly soft, not overly fast, and utterly lack cohesion.

Did I hear that correctly? Schaefer is still in Ottawa and hasn’t had surgery yet? He’s obviously in a walking, but I’m second guessing what the commentators said.

And the fact the Americans aren’t playing well either. Why again do they get held to a high pedestal when they have just as many warts?

Somewhere in Quebec.
I’ve never seen a Canada team look this bad in terms of special teams, specifically the PK.

This isn’t even a talent thing, having coached at a high level and worked with some NHLers and pros, this team has enough to win but there’s 0 cohesion. A good coach can mask our flaws and don’t get me wrong we are lacking some high end talent at the back, but what’s the identity here ? They don’t hit, they’re only a little aggressive on the forecheck and I mean they just don’t dominate the play. Hockey in Canada hasn’t regressed but man there’s some boggling coaching going on.

Cowan looks terrible and Nadeau is a ghost, I’m not sure why Martone is a skratch for a team that is sorely lacking creativity.

That being said, the Germans and Latvians have genuinely really improved, but either way, we just don’t look well coached.

So the german player gets a penalty for "roughing" and then a couple of mins later a canadian player does a roughing infront of the ref and its nothing....ok then.

I don't think choosing a roster with depth players in mind is necessarily a bad idea, but after Schaefer got hurt, it's truly unnacceptable to not have given Parekh a call. This D has 0 game breaking mobility. Everyone is fine but nobody is a Makar/Hughesx2/Dunn/Hutson/etc. level rover.

I hate how our players complain for everything, even blatant penalties. It's ******* Germany. We're supposed to make it not even matter. Makes us look bad.
I felt the same when Cameron was complaning in overtime last game.

Like cmon, we're worried about the wrong things here lol

I didn't watch the USA lose to Finland in OT so I can't comment, maybe Finland woke up after their abysmal game against Canada, but 'Murica put up 10 on Germany and Canada is holding on 1-0 off a PP goal. We'll see how it plays out.

Canada players are looking nervous as hell after the loss to Latvia. Which is understandable. If they allowed another disaster tonight, the group might even develop into the crazy scenario where Canada would need to win or at least grab a point vs. the US to avoid the relegation game. But I think they are going to score another goal or two early into the 2nd, regain confidence and win this game convincingly at the end.

Yeah but it was a close game against Germany until the third and they also gave up 4 to Germany. The US, despite the 5-1 score, didn’t look very good against Latvia either. They gave up a lot of grade A scoring chances and odd man rushes. But Tuesday will be a great game, regardless. You know both teams will be up for that one.
