Yeah, as a person that thinks people typically overreact to marginal roster decisions, Canada's choices just feel odd this year. The most prolific goal scorers in the junior leagues were left at home. The best powerplay quarterback was left at home. A top 10 pick 6'4 righty DMan was left at home. Talented NCAA players were told they need not apply, other than if they already left to go play in the AHL and have been just ok there (Nadeau). And a kid like Easton Cowan with his OHL point streak gets the red carpet treatment to be the "man" to drive the team's offense, when he's "only" like 14th in the OHL in PPG playing on the most stacked team in the CHL. Then the bottom six and corresponding D feel like they were placed with actual grinders. Even if they come back to win Gold, it's just a very oddly constructed roster. Like they had some Junior salary cap they needed to comply with.
