GDT: Germany vs Canada, Group A; Dec 28, 2024, 7:30 Eastern

They also gave up 4 and had a 1 goal lead in the third period, just like Canada. If we want to play this silly game, Canada shut out Finland who just beat the US.
I wasnt comparing results, or defence which is why i only mentioned the goals scored by the US. Im talking about goal scoring and quality scoring chance creation, this team has had as close to zero offensive threat a Canadian team could ever fear to have.

Have you seen who's running hockey Canada.

And to the second question. Yes, perhaps it's not all bad.
No, I haven't really been paying attention. I know they made changes after all the news broke about the dummies on the 2018 team, but I never saw who they brought in to run the show.

Genuinely curious, what do you mean by that?
For one, they’ve lost a shit ton of money through the dropping of advertisers. They’ve had to cut back big time on things like resources for players. Led to an overhaul of the executives and the new ones brought in arent hockey people. Guys like Rick Westhead are trying to destroy Canada as a cultural institution in Canada, which is the main reason the excessive focus on “hockey culture is toxic” is so ubiquitous. The give away is the Lack of focus on other issues, just hockey. He tried to destroy Connor Lockhart and Beckett Sennecke last year for a similar thing, and it was all made up BS. Did he say anything when they were cleared? No, he didn’t. Did his vanishing act after he’s done his job of putting the spotlight on these kids.

No excuses for the US losing to Finland. That’s a pretty weak team. But, Finland did play a lot more cohesive against the US than against Canada.

Canada has way too much talent to be in a one goal game against a relegation contender.

I got laughed at for suggesting this team would have trouble finding the back of the net this tournament. Well well well….

Even the most glass half full guys in here have to laugh at the irony of the official song of the WJC being "What are you waiting for?"

Maybe Canada is a regulation contender?
Haven't showed much better last two games.

Germany isn't a team to be beaten 10-0 in normal circumstances.

Thanks for the explanation. Just looked up who's running the show. Katherine Henderson? Could be a useful voice in the room, but doesn't seem like a good fit as the top dog.

This makes the selection "camp" held by Canada that much more laughable. The management group made decisions before even seeing the kids play together.
Yeah I could have bought into a lot of the strange roster decisions much easier with a better selection camp but to not even invite so many guys just made so sense
