GDT: Germany v. Canada 23h30 UTC

Too many players on Team Canada have spent too much time playing EA Sports NHL-series games on their Playstations.
I think the pond hockey moves are the result of Covid taking away a couple years of development.

They probably spent more time on the joysticks than in practice during that time.

Sublime! That German D just watching helplessly. Canada at 16 shots and 3 goals, 1 disallowed goal after 18 minutes. This German squad is well coached and structured. It's damn impressive.

Is it a lack of high level junior opportunity that is holding back Canadian goaltending or is it the cost of it both in terms of equipment and the constant schools/camps?
A little of column A, a little of column B. We don't coach goalies enough, and young enough, and there are only several dozen major junior goaltending spots - having a bunch of Europeans taking those spots means that Canadians aren't getting those chances.

the crazy thing is it's the American's that made that move popular.

I don't think the Michigan is the goaltending issue. The issue is that no body wants to be blamed for losses as a young kid. If your youth team loses, everyone blames the goalie.

You mean like the bad team defense on four of the five goals against but it somehow being heaped on Gaudreau for being at fault for the loss to the Czechs?

2 points from Bedard so far in this game. He had 1 point in the first game too.

Only 29 more points to go until he breaks Forsberg's record.
