German football season 2023/24

Lucky 3 points but I'll take it. Köln's backline was solid throughout the game and BVB had barely any actual scoring opportunities. Definitely would've deserved at least a tie. Kobel with a couple of big saves.

Wow, Stuttgart...losing their beloved captain, losing Mavropanos, probably losing Sosa:

Though Bochum is awful.

I always suspected that Kane was a third the player that Behrens is...

Strong debut from Fofana. He & Aaronson took defenders on well and Fofana almost scored a fantastic FK. Volland did well in his debut too, assisting the 4th goal to ice things after coming on late.

Really hope Laïdouni doesn't leave this window. I know the Saudi's are offering 4+ times what we paid for him and probably offering him silly wages, but let teams see him in the CL and he'll cost twice as much...and he'll have gotten to be a part of this season's title campaign.

1. Stuttgart
2. Bayern
3. Union
4. Wolfsburg
5. Leverkusen
6. Freiburg
7. Dortmund

Just like everyone predicted the table to look after 1 week.

2 names to remember:

Jürgen Rynio- the goalie with the most relegations in Bundesliga history - though he actually wasn't bad
Ludovic Ajorque- the player who misses two penalty-kicks in one game.

Leipzig's first 135 minutes of this BuLi season have been rather disappointing compared to expectations, especially after that Super Cup final.

Definitely don't take that as me being upset about it though. lol

Early save of the year candidate for Nübel right there.

Yeah, nice save and then this calamity time for him. Kicks a clearance right at Hendricks feet and it bounces in.

Stuttgart turn into monsters the instant they free themselves of Endo.

Lol, you spoke too soon. Nubel butterfingers and they concede a second.

Get Timo Werner on there, even he could score in this match.

Edit: disallowed for offside.

If I had waited the joke wouldn't have worked...plus I was going for my bike ride so wasn't gunna watch the second half anyway

Curious to see how Gladbach will do this year with pretty much a newly constructed team.

It had to be done, cause the former collection of players didn't work at all and couldn't compete either athletically or in terms of pace with the rest of the league.

I really hope Seoane won't keep on playing Weigl/Neuhaus in a two man midfield cause they can't stop anyone from running threw them.
If not he'll have to go back to a back five given that both Netz and Scally aren't great defensively.

Though that might force Seoane to play Honorat at right wingback and would take away some of his offensive power.

I guess either Koné coming back(after the internatioal break) or his replacement(if we still end up selling him) would be a help in midfield and could stabilize the team.

And if we're able to do that than we should be fine given that teams will have trouble catching Honorat, Ngoumou and Cvancara.

If not, well, I hope we don't end up in a though spot with a newly assambled team having to fight relegation....

Good guys already up 1-0 after Gosens scores his first :yo:

Aaronson manages to get a yellow-red after just 20 minutes and things are level again.

Even a man down Gosens & Behrens can not be stopped; 3-1 at the half after a brace from the Germany International and another from the BuLi's top goalscorer.

Harry who? :yo:

Yeah will be very interesting to see which way things go for you. Both with the roster and with what Seoane learned from his Leverkusen stint.

If Honorat, Plea, Cvancara, and Ngoumou can deliver up front I like a lot of your roster. I rate Elvedi, Itakura, Friedrich, & Wöber...haven't seen enough of that Italian kid to have an opinion on him...and Netz, Scally, & Ullrich are some very talented young FBs. While Kone, Neuhaus, Weigl, and Kramer is a strong quartet of midfielders.

I'm a little surprised you haven't tried Itakura at the 6 like he played for Schalke. I feel like sticking him in front of the back 4 could be the best way to balance your lineup

Starting 11:
Plea/Ngoumou - Cvancara - Honorat
Neuhaus/Weigl - Kone*
Itakura
Netz - Wöber - Elvedi - Scally
Omlin

Bench:
Plea/Ngoumou
Hack
Jordan?
Neuhaus/Weigl
Kramer
Ullrich
Friedrich
Chiaroda

*Rieder/Stach if Kone is sold

Dortmund gets the one point only due to an extremely weak attempt at a save by Riemann. Not a whole lot going on for this team in the first two games.
