I was one of the biggest backers of hiring Gallant and have been for years.

Scratching Kakko for Rooney is arguably one of the dumbest coaching decisions i've seen in years. It was Vigneault/Quinn level, and WE SHOULD NOT BE DEALING WITH THAT LEVEL OF HANDICAPPING THE TEAM.

I don’t like a lot of things this guy does with his usage but criticizing the Strome decision is laughable. If Strome was cleared by the doctors and said he was good to go of course he was going to play him as would every other coach in the league. He’s not going to hold someone out just because in an important game.

If the doctor's said he was fine, then we need to fire them as well.

It’s pretty easy to test whether a guy can go at full speed. Given the gravity of the game, you run the damn test. Strome wasn’t even close.

But if there was a decent chance Strome was not gonna make it through the entire game, was benching Kakko for more 4th liners the move? Just seems like a bad plan.

He messed up tonight. Like REALLY messed up. Maybe it wouldn't of mattered, but that makes the move all the dumber. People wouldn't be this mad (with good reason) if he iced his best players. He didn't and has no valid excuse for it.

It's almost bad enough of a move to negate an amazing season he had. Dude fumbled so hard on the one yard line.

Rah rah coaches only go as far as ur goalie takes u. If he has an aging henrik or georgiev in net im not sure we make the POs
Ur first line gets dominated against checking lines
What does coach do?
NOTHING
Finally switching laf and kreid did nothing
U have to change on the fly and when ur home and they change on the fly u change also.
Cant do it every shift but the attitude that hey just play hard no matter the match-up and good things will come is horrible coaching
Also, GG put the kid line back together for the POs.
I was skeptical but after a couple games against pitt they became our best line
But somehow GG suddenly doesn't like what they r doing and gives them less and less icetime and finally breaks them up our final game..
He turned a 21 year old into our scapegoat
Have balls and keep hobbled strome out
Obviously he cant bench pan or tru no matter how bad they have been but how was benching our best possession player who had chemistry with laf and chy who messier himself called the best 3rd line in hockey help this team???
If it comes down to kk or gg im firing gg in a heartbeat

It's no longer a mystery why his previous two employers seemingly fired him out of left field.

He's better than David Quinn though. That's it
It's never been a mystery. They did so because they were arrogant and not as hockey smart as they thought they were. Florida despite having much improved rosters (youngsters grown up and a star goalie) missed 3 playoffs in a row. This year they lost to Tampa 4 straight in the previous round. Vegas with the highest paid roster in hockey watched the playoffs on their Iphones from the golf course. Give your head a f**king shake. Should Tampa have fired Jon Cooper when he was expected to win Cups but didn't ? Does anyone on here really think the Rangers roster is comparable to the Lightning ? Give me a f**king break.

To add fuel to a fire, Gallant is completely refusing to explain his scratch decision. Gutless and weak.
Typical. I am wondering something happened between the team and the coach, especially since a player like Reaves was scratched. Did the team had enough of Gallant and quit on him?

And on top of that why force an injured player like Strome who wasn't really effective even before injury play instead of Kakko. Pretty gutless and disgusting move.

Ok, just by reading the posts and mood in here, is Gallant being let go and Drury taking over behind the bench even a stretch beyond possibility? If the group did sour on Gallant?

Also, I thought he should've called time right after the Vatrano goal and told the group to catch their breath and that it was a brand new game, and a clean slate, even though no HC would do that in that situation.

I am not even sure if he is better than Quinn, definitely had a better roster than Quinn.

look again, last season Vegas was the top team in NHL and it was DeBoer coaching them, not Gallant.
My statement is true , Turk got them to the Finals in order for them to have gotten better after he left is to at least make it to the Finals were he took them or win it and they have failed with way better rosters to boot.

who cares and higher cap doesn't mean the roster is better.
