I know very little about him until a few days ago. However Eric had mentioned him to me which is why I atleast knew he existed - and more importantly his peers in the Big Ten noticed on the poll questionnaire they took

As for the Russian factor - he’s lived here at least 3 or 4 years and goes to Ohio State ~ huge difference then other Russians Bruins drafted

The Bruins as Bill Ladd says have a relationship with Youngstown and obviously watching Lohrei at OSU saw him a lot - and got feedback from Lohrei. Just an observation but without Lohrei do they see and know him enough to make this work.

I’ll be like everyone else curious what they got but the Russian factor and his playing and off ice personality are likely resolved in Bruins minds

sweet, now sign Beecher, wonder what the hold up is?
ohio state has been done for a minute whereas michigan just got knocked out. gotta imagine beecher might want a break. or he hates us and isn’t signing. never know.

that`s what I would have thought but look at his teammates who seemed to sign as they were skating off the ice for the last time at the Frozen Four

He was pretty excited to be here last Wednesday when Michigan showed up

Connor Ryan from Boston Sports Journal

“He's a pro frame,” Michigan senior captain Jimmy Lambert said of Beecher. “We all love him in the locker room. He's a pretty infectious guy. He's pretty funny. He carries that onto the ice, he's a leader. He's going to be successful here in Boston in the future.”

Dmitri Kvartolnov was excellent when he first arrived but it not take too long for his flame to burn out.
yes true i forgot about him. but for every samsonov/kvartolnov we blew threw another chistov, kohkalev, zinoveyev and that goalie prospect back in the day i cant find a name anywhere. no issue with drafting signing russians i was always envious watching datsyuk and others skate circles around mowers and our other scrubs.

Beecher Frederic Coyle should give the Bruins a foundation of a bigger bottom 6
Evgeni Ryabchicov sp
i was driving home from Methuen the day they drafted him and there is the whacked out rotary for those who live around there - and I heard on wbz radio at about 4 (work day I guess they did draft mid week ) I was so wtf who is this that I missed my off shoot for 93 South

I still don’t remember the ride home

In retrospect what rhe hell was Harry Sinden drafting a Russian goalie

Odds he ever saw him live once

He had a great wjc if I recall, but doubt Harry saw him more than that.

I think our prospect pool is very good unlike some reports say. Bussi, Keyser, Ahcan, Lohrei, Lysell, McLaughlin, Merkulov, Kuntar, Studnicka, Beecher, Lauko, Steen to me that is not too shabby at all.

Ryabchikov actually won the starting goalie position in training camp, but then the lockout started. He was eligible to be sent to Providence to play there during the lockout (you will recall that Bergeron went to Providence during a later lockout), but money-grubbing Sinden decided to keep him on the Boston roster to save a few bucks. As a consequence, he didn't play for several months, and he was never the same goalie after not playing. He eventually was sent to Providence after the lockout ended, but it was too late. He missed a critical period in his development. Perhaps he was also a flash in the pan, but we'll never know for certain.

Not many highlight videos. Here is one(several years old). Terrible choice of music (I just put it on mute). Also some parts in the middle isnt the best quality

- 1st highlight right out of the gate. Drills. Handle looks good. Shifty/light on feet

- @0:26.... nice burst of speed and goal(top corner)
-@2:40 ... makes nice anticipatory back pass
- @3:50 ... dipsy doodle against two defenders. Two defenders run into each other.
- @4:13... practice drill. Nice 360 spins. Tight spins
