Yeah, I know. I really don't give a fukk anymore, I like coming here and talking to all of you guys but in all honesty, I have lost my desire to cheer for what Bergevin has built. I will have hope again but not until the MB era ends.

Even though MB is a shitty GM, a star or two on the roster would help me overlook him to an extent but we don't even have that, we just have a vanilla bland bunch of scrubs wearing habs jerseys, not all that inspiring to old geezers like me.
Remember when we joined, we had the hope and optimism of our 30's. New GM, decent looking rookies, good core of players, stellar young goalie, 3rd overall draft pick..here we are with almost a decade of burningbin winning all his trades, nothing great drafted(and not traded), nothing yet to look forward to, and our record is soooo much better than 2012 LOL.

You will not get good value for an overpaid Gallagher and Tatar. You are handcuffing yourself by making moves like that. It's idiotic to try to compete in the Price and Weber window because their best years are behind them and they aren't coming back.

Find one player who signs a long term UFA deal like Gallagher is about to, that plays the physical style he does, that doesn't drop off almost immediately into that contract?
I would be open for a trade... I would definetely not re-sign them (unless they accept an offer well below their value) which I suspect it will not be the case.

Easy to find out if you are the GM... you can see what they want this off season... whenever that is. Term is the key IMO. And I'm open to moving Price and Weber. Just not now cause I want the cap to grow a bit more and for them to has less term. We are not on the same page with them being over the hill. They are more like like going down the hill very slowly and still provide top of the line-up value for years to come.

Perhaps i'm mistaken, but everytime someone points out the team's failures the past 8 years, both Molson and Bozovin have somewhat acknowledged it and have made reference to some " changes" they've made a few years ago to address it.

What exactly were these changes and what fruit has it brought to bare? Other than sacking Sylvain Levebre (who should have never been hired to begin with), i can't think of anything else. Promoting Churla to scouting director maybe?

No doubt it is all about the money however (and I am no economist) wouldn't it be easier to make money of suckers if Habs was a contending team? wouldn't it be easier to sell lodges, season tickets, merchandise crap, condos and anything that can be branded with CH if this was a team that actually was pushing for the cup on a consistent basis?
Not if you aren't contending regularly. The fact we have had tons of cap space for 3 years should be all you need to know. That covers a first round of playoffs. So that is why we are only shooting for a playoff birth. He saves millions, maybe makes 3 games, or by fluke with price we make second round and burn out. Thats like making the ECF money wise. Since as bergevin has said its all(drafting, playoffs, trades) like throwing darts and up to chance this is a cost assurance that we at least make the money of a first round exit each year with the HOPE of lottery pick to pull us up in some future date.

I'm pretty sure Molson's a Habs fan who'd love to see his team win. But... as an owner he's unwilling to make any sacrifice to make that happen. That's because he's a born caretaker, not a risk-taker. He's a caretaker for his family's wealth, just like he is for the Habs. He's able to maintain the status-quo, but nothing more. The Habs reflect his lack of balls and lack of vision, and I doubt our team ever gets over its mediocrity under his watch unless we get extremely lucky.
Okay, but why would he call a losing disaster of a GM one of the most respected in hockey? Why would Bergevin be seen as a respected GM? It doesn't even make sense to say that, hell, you could have been our GM and probably had much better results than Bergevin. If he is truly a fan of the habs he got there because of our past winning ways and the legacy that we established in the sporting world as one of the greatest franchises ever assembled but now he is content to be mediocre but is still a fan? I don't buy that. He is a fan of the bottom line and business is booming and that's all that he really wants and it shows. If this team is in a weaker US market, Bergevin is an afterthought by now, it just wouldn't fly to be that bad and still be employed 8 years later.

We both joined here 11 years ago, time flies my friend. It's nice seeing you back here, I have enjoyed your no-nonsense approach to the habs and like you, I don't really see much to get excited about with the Montreal Bergevin's.

And send players away.

Although there's history with his family, it is highly likely Molson had to suck up to some of the big boys in the board of governors, ever since he bought the team. It makes a whole lot of sense if it's entirely a business approach, why Molson bought the team. This is not a toy for him. It's a business venture for him and his partners.

Both Bergevin and Molson look like asskissers.

Bought for somewhere in the neighborhood of 500 million and currently worth 1.3 billion without even coming close to winning a cup is a scenario that most NHL clubs can only dream of. Damn right that it is nothing more than a money-making venture, how else can the loyalty to Bergevin be explained? They don't give a rats ass about developing players or realistically trying to win, it's very easy to see. We will not be a competitive franchise as long as Molson owns the team, it's obvious that it has nothing to do with winning, hot dogs, and merchandise on the other hand.lol.

At this point, I have to believe it has nothing to do except for the money part.
Either that or Molson has become really that dumb when it comes to hockey!
on one point, i fully agree it is only about the money, on the other hand, you saying he became dumb, that statement assumes he was not to begin with. I for one beleive he was always a no balls idiot . was so obvious to see from the moment he reacted to hiring an english interim coach

Winning and attendance will go hand in hand though.

Correct me if I am wrong but did the habs not have games not sold out this season? Plus season ticket holders are dropping their longstanding seats?

8 years of Bergevin and we finally see a few empty seats and we just saw our 27th anniversary come and go for the last time we won something. It is still a revenue river for Molson, no streams in sight.

It is a license to print money. All it takes is a 5 game win streak and people are raving about playoffs and how close we are to contending...

Just give him more time... just a little more time..... don't worry, he's got this one.

Both 8 game losing streaks were merely a test, a character assessment lol, here we are after going through all of that and now sit ready and excited for the playoffs lol. An extension is on the way.

The only way Molson will consider changes is if attendance takes a complete nose dive soon from fans losing interest and getting fed up with a losing team thus causing his profits to considerably drop. Unfortunately I don't see that happening since Hab fans will show up no matter how poor the on ice product is it seems.

With the high price for tickets and a poor on ice product in the past few seasons Molson should consider himself very lucky that Hab fans are loyal and still shows up even when the on ice product is bad.

Anyway I've stopped buying the BS Molson keeps trying to sell the Habs fanbase when he does these press conferences every year. He says the same things every year and yet nothing changes and the team is still poor. Put up or shut up Geoff.

Boivin and Gainey did a good job in recovery (A Savard to some degree as well) after those post Roy trade dark years. Molson is guilty and is also in denial. He's not at step one yet... Admitting there is a problem. What's the spoiled brat going to do if someone else is President? That's probably what he is thinking

It's his toy, he wants to keep playing with it. He doesn't want a really competent guy doing better with his toy. Completely selfish. He is looking at himself in the mirror when he wake up everyday saying to himself "you are President of the Montreal Canadiens, Geoff!".
