I gave HOTS a try and it was refreshing to have shorter game because 6.83 dota the averaged game seemed to last for an hour(and sniper/troll every game) whereas none of my HOTS games lasted over 30 mins. But with 6.84 my game lengths dropped about 15 minutes(and no more sniper/troll). Didn't like the playstyle or having to learn a million things, much like league/smite. I played HoN for a bit inbetween wc3 dota and dota 2 but there was a DDos attack that crushed it for awhile and I never went back to it.

I get why league is more popular, i just didn't like the game at all. Grind to 30 seemed to take forever, runes/champions are somewhat pay-to-win, and the graphics were abysmal(still are IMO, but have improved).

Dota2 is the game for me, only log on the others to chat or perhaps play around a game here or there.

MOBAs, which are all ****** timesinks nowadays. Games with actual narrative/plot actually provide something reasonable to play.

How about you just explain what the acronym means instead of giving me a link to that site.

I know, I'm an ass. MOBA is multiplayer online battle arena, where basically you pick one hero with different abilities and fight the other team. The games are usually 5v5 and are extremely competetive.

League of Legends and Dota 2 are the 2 most well known games of this format currently. They require immense amount of teamwork, knowledge of the heroes and the items and tactical cunning to be successful on high level.

I absolutely hate the genre after 1000+ Heroes of Newerth and ~500 Dota games.

I've been playing Hearthstone pretty casually. I'd recommend to anyone who doesn't have lots of time to sink into video games. It's on mobile, so it's easy to play 5-10 minutes while the gal is getting ready, or over lunch when I'm feeling especially introverted.

I've really enjoyed Hearthstone as well, and after a bit of grinding you can build a competitive deck without spending any money. Currently rank 14 with my Mage/mech deck.

Complete daily quests, get enough gold for the arena, and hope to make a deep run. Seven wins in the arena pays for itself (in gold) and provides you with other great bonuses.

Hearthstone was terribly boring for me, it's like 90% dumbed down MTG. It's just probably ex-MTG players who have this problem. Especially casual gamers tend to love it. I just can't stand the uncomboability (that is not a word) of the gameplay.

I played MTG, and don't find hearthstone boring when you take it for what it is; a game that you can squeeze in to short periods when you're board.

Well, it depends on the person. For example, I would find NASCAR '15 or a lot of other garden-variety racing titles boring after iRacing.

I would think it would be Koreans

DOTA didn't take off in Korea yet because of League of Legends has a strong hold on that region.

DOTA has some pretty good russian teams so there is a lot of them on DOTA and yes you run into them and yes they are mostly mean and toxic because they expect everyone to know Russian.

MOBA games are great for learning about other cultures, they are also great at making you despise other human beings.

Anyone else playing Witcher 3?

I'm a couple hours in, and I'm blown away by the scope and detail so far. If they can keep this up, I'm going to be playing this for a long, long time.

Go ahead and apply that to CS:GO's European player base as well. Part of that is what you said earlier in how the majority of the competitive scene is overrun by European players and teams, which means that the best players are Euros, and the NA teams tend to pale in comparison.

I've met a lot of nice European players in CS, but it seems like the majority of them that play matchmaking are just so toxic.

Nope, but I've heard it's great.

Just bought my new PS4 today :) I couldn't wait any longer to play the Witcher. So far it is pretty awesome. I was a huge Skyrim fan, and still am. I find myself wishing The Witcher had more in the same as far as selecting weapons and going through the inventory. I'm sure I will get used to the little quirks. Beautiful game so far though.

I also bought The Order 1886. Might take me a while to get to it though.

Nice touch, I like very much.

That's pretty cool.

I probably won't use it much, other than just trying it out. Pretty keen move on EA's part to put this in after the Women's World Cup this summer.

Women's teams in the game: Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, England, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Spain, Sweden, and the United States of America
