I remember when I first started watching UFC and Pride when all they had were tournaments. Loved it, but I understand why it changed and I'm actually surprised they are allowed to bring it back.

Oh absolutely, they used to have them all the time. I loved them too, you used to see a lot of crazy matchups, lots of drama with guys having to win multiple fights in a night, etc.

Can't help but think Ryan "The Master" Bader is the favorite to win here lol All the heavyweights in the tourny are completely washed up.

Of the heavyweights that might have something left in the tank, it might be Frank Mir of all people that could probably do slight okay.

Either him or Mitrione I'd say. They're the only two that aren't WAY passed their primes or inflated light heavyweights. If Rampage looks the way he did in his last fight he'll just be a butter ball out there, gassed out within 2 minutes.

He's not a natural 185er and has had severe health problems because of it. The fact that was made public is even more hinting at a drop back to 170 or 155.

I know if I were him I'd just ride into the sunset at this point. He was lucky enough to stay relevant for a decent while past his prime, now he's just tarnishing his legacy.

It's a sanctioned ref so the UFC could ( and probably will) discipline him too, independently of what Bellator does. It might not be more than a slap on the wrist though. Bellator is probably quite happy with the publicity, even if you don't want to set the precedent that it's okay to touch a ref.

even at a catch weight GSP eats him. McGregor wasn't even looking good against Diaz at 170 so GSP would eat him alive. Sure McGregor is spectacular but he's not in the same class as GSP.

I agree, just meant I don't see Mcgregor going back to 170.

GSP was 191 during the fight apparently and this is after bulking. He said he wasn't a big welterweight back in the day either. I could easily see GSP making weight at say 160-165 and Mcgregor as well.

I just don't see a scenario where they fight, I really don't. McGregor is loaded with opponents, even in boxing he could make fights if he wants to. GSP is a worthy PPV draw for him but man oh man can a loss hurt your momentum. We'll see how McGregor does against Ferguson but a loss may ruin his momentum.
