F - Wheeler, Okposo, Carter, Kesler, Bjugstad, Smith, S. Gionta ...

D - Byfuglien, Trouba, Jones, Yandle, Faulk, Carlson...

G - Thomas, Miller (depending where he gets traded too) or Schneider.

Problem is you don't know who will make it to the 2nd round or which teams might sneak into the playoffs. Those are players from teams I don't think will make it in and some played on last years teams.

Say what you will about the US Olympic team, but one thing for sure is that there is depth in the team USA pool we have never seen the likes of. Days of being outsider/underdogs are over.

right now with the current teams out of the playoffs:

B. Ryan - R. Kesler - K. Okposo
RJ Umberger - B. Dubinsky - C. Atkinson
D. Legwand - C. Smith - B. Wheeler
C. Higgins - N. Bjugstad - D. Byfuglien
C. Wilson/ S. Gionta/ M. Arcobello/D. Shore/ AHLer or College kid

K. Yandle - J. Carlson
A. Greene - J. Faulk
J. Johnson - S. Jones
J. Trouba
D. Dekeyser

R. Miller
C. Schneider
C. Anderson/T. Thomas/ J. Gibson

Yah this would be a sweet team. If the standings stay and as you mentioned, no one is nursing injuries.

i can tell you right now. Ryan Miller won't go even if he's not in the playoffs. it's a contract year for him. He'll want one more decent NHL contract before he hangs up the skates.

Ah yes, World Championships. Where Faulk was the USA's best Dman the past two years. Can't wait to actually see him touch the ice in this tournament.

I have no doubt this roster is going to look terrible for us, but with the Olympics over I'd like to think of something else.

USA Schedule

Date | Game | ET
May 9|Belarus vs. USA|12:45 PM
May 10|USA vs. Switzerland|12:45 PM
May 12|Russia vs. USA|12:45 PM
May 15|USA vs. Latvia|7:45 AM
May 16|USA vs. Kazakhstan|7:45 AM
May 18|USA vs. Finland|7:45 AM
May 20|Germany vs. USA|4:45 AM

thats a hard group for you guys. finland, russia and switzerland are very good. belarus will have their best team ever and home soil. germany is hungry. and latvia...well you saw them in olympics. kazakshtan has 100 % khl roster.

That defense really isn't that bad.

I think USA will get good team to WHC. I'm quite sure Galchenyuk will be in. He was very happy last spring after getting bronze. He said like this in the interview:
"It was unbelievable to win the game for my team and country. I must be happier than ever in my life."

So I think hell be back.

It's pathetic how there are always some posters who come just to post "I'm not interested". Thanks for sharing that information. We're really interested to hear that... Not.

If the Wings don't make the playoffs, I would expect Howard, Abdelkader and DeKeyser to all be on this team.

Should be able to bring a pretty impressive young D-core, want both Trouba and Jones at this tournament.

This.

I'll predict May 18 USA vs. Finland 7:45 AM finns will get a proper reminder at the first period..

Ide be happy to see Galchenyuk.

Also, you don't know which players are just going to say no. This partly why I don't put much stock into this tournament, there are so many factors going into who is just to going to be able to play that you really can't get an idea on who is a favourite. At least in the Olympics you can get a pretty good feel for what a team will look like...not in the World Championships. This is going to be a crazy tournament because I think a lot of players who were on the Olympic teams and are on non-playoff teams are going to stay home and get a bit of rest. It's going to throw a wrench into everything.

I think its a joke that the Olympics (which is the true World Championship, because it's the truest best on best) and the "World Championship" are played in the same year. We already know who the world champion is! It's Canada, they just got back-to back shutout wins in the medal rounds.

Generally we get a lot of declines in an Olympic year.

In 2010 we lost to Germany and Denmark and ended up in the relegation round.

No doubt there are challenges to overcome in an Olympic year for all Federations and esp. for Hockey Canada/USA Hockey. player apathy being one of them...but, we'll see.. maybe this year it will be different. Last year's U.S. team exceeded expectations! The WHC has evolved into such a watered down tournament in Olympic years that I think player motivation/coaching should easily make up the difference for lack of talented names. I think that's where both Canada and the U.S. have failed in the past. poor coaching and unmotivated players...

Yep but getting down into players 40-60 for Canada you still have good players. We end up with very limited choices.

I am sure we will see a ton of top young players again.

John Gaudreau is an absolute lock for this team.

Nick Bjugstad is a lock as well.

Jacob Trouba is a lock as well - assuming they miss playoffs

Seth Jones is a lock as well - see above

Brock Nelson is a lock

Tim Thomas would have to be a lock as well as he wants to play again next year and if not traded to a contender would be a great #1 to have (Gibson as well).

I am okay with seeing the next wave start to come. We simply aren't going to get many names to show up especially those that felt jaded about not making Team USA for Sochi.

I am hoping we can get John Gibson just not sure Anaheim would let him go incase of injury for their playoffs. Gibson and Thomas would make me believe relegation is not an option.
