Will Pluss continue to play for national team after the olympics?
 
There was no official news on this but I'd also add a question mark there. Same with Vauclair and Gardner.
 
I don't see Steiner making the team. And it is also a bit early for Martschini I guess. Would love to see him making the team one day, but not yet.

I really hope Sprunger has good Playoffs, we all know that he is not perfect in international play, but the guy has one of the best and most accurate shots of the league and looking back at the Olympics, we could really use his skills. However, he needs to get to the next level in the upcoming games, didnt have his best season so far.
 
the way he is playing right now Walker is a lock. He really step up this february/march, and he was already for the short list for sochi.
 
Tomorrow is a press conference during which Simpson probably will say that he won't sign another contract with the Swiss federation.

I read today on a Russian site that Simpson is fielding offers from the KHL. multiple teams.

Manzato, Daniel (Played strong for the national team, but it would be a big suprise if he's going to Minsk)
Gerber, Martin (Backup I think)

Flüeler, Lukas (Is for me not that good, but I guess third Goalie)
Conz, Benjamin (Until now he has done nothing to be in Minsk)

Berra, Reto COL maybe gets a free pass to join the National Team, but I don't think so

Just some hints and additions.

D:
Josi could decline, he played a lot this season, Olympics, 26 minutes a game (sometimes more than 30 minutes).
Beat Gerber retired from the national team some time ago.

O:
Simon Moser is injured and it seems quite severe. His team would also play AHL-playoffs, so he very probably won't be available even if he's ready.
Same with Sven Bärtschi. Only the Bulldogs are surley out but Andrighetto could get a call-up for the playoffs, happens sometimes. If not, he should be on the Swiss team.
Tanner Richard is currently also injured.

A lot of goalies must have declined if Flückiger made it. I would have liked to see Zurkirchen get a chance instead. I'm ok with the defense, maybe Leeger could have been given a try, but no big miss. Gardner and Plüss are the biggest name left off among the forwards (is Plüss injured?). Interesting to see what Berger, Scherwey and Walsky can do.

Julian Walker is injured and this is the reason he is not there.

I also read that Genoni will join the team one week later, because of familiar reasons. I cannot find the source right now but I'm quite sure he's over Flückiger and Manzato.

Thanks for the update, I changed the reason by Walker. I was a little bit surprised that Walker wasn't on the roster...so there is the explanation. :)

Genoni I will add if it's really the case...

Manzato, Daniel (Lugano) - Decent season, not good enough to be a WC candidate + Meili would get a chance before him
Flückiger, Michael (Lugano) - Decent season, not good enough for WC though + inexperienced
Genoni, Leonardo (Davos) - Candidate for third Goalie if Gerber declines

Gerber, Martin (Kloten Flyers) - Possibly the third goalie, unless Simpson decides to be nostalgic
Stephan, Tobias (Genève Servette) - Probably the starter / 1A
Flüeler, Lukas (ZSC Lions) - Possibly going to be 1B / Back-up
Conz, Benjamin (Fribourg Gottéron) - Did not play good enough this season

NHL Candidates:

Berra, Reto (Colorado) - Will continue to work with Allaire, the goalie coach of Colorado + he will play game 71 for the Avs and have a chance to prove himself. Very small chance he gets a leaf of absence to play at WC

Hiller, Jonas (Anaheim) - Anaheim is in the playoffs and Hiller should be the starting goalie due to his experience

Kparghai, Clarence (HC Lugano) - Has gotten better since he joined Lugano, still don´t think he has what it takes

Ramholt, Tim (EV Zug) - Aggressive leader, Simpson could use someone like him. To me it´s either him or Bezina, but since Bezina snubbed Simpson for the Olympics and is a defensive liability
Grossmann, Robin (HC Davos) - Did not play good enough this season
Guerra, Samuel (HC Davos) - There are better canditates, seat filler in camp
Kukan, Dean (Lulea SWE) - Don´t know too much about him but from what I´ve heard he had a good season. Could be good for a suprise...

Seger, Matthias (ZSC Lions) - A lock, will wear the "C"
Blindenbacher, Severin (ZSC Lions) - A lock
Bezina, Goran (Genève Servette) - Snubbed Simpson for the Olympics, just terrible defensively

Wieser, Dino (HC Davos) - Don´t really like him and his play declined even more since last season
Berger, Pascal (SC Bern) - Seat filler in camp
Deruns, Thomas (HC Lausanne) - Seat filler in camp. IMO should not be eligible to play for half a year after his check from behind on Bärtschi
Neuenschwander, Caryl (Lausanne HC) - Seat filler in camp
Walser, Samuel (HC Davos) - Seat filler in camp
Rüfenacht, Thomas (HC Lugano) - Other players fit the bill of an aggressive leader better than him

Bärtschi, Patrick (ZSC Lions) - Decent chance, one of the best goalgetters this seasons

Bodenmann, Simon (Kloten Flyers) - Haven´t seen much of him lately, but he´s got the potential to be one of the most creative players on this team
Bieber Matthias (Kloiten Flyers) - A lock
Plüss, Benjamin (Fribourg Gottéron) - I´d like him to go to Minsk, for the last 2-3 seasons he´s played lights out in his role for Gotteron
Hollenstein, Dennis (Genève-Servette) - A lock
Monnet, Thibaut (Fribourg Gottéron) - Goal scorer who´s a defensive liability. My favourite player but I just don´t think so
Simek, Juraj (Genève-Servette) - Not good enough!

Brunner, Damien (NJD) - Terrible at the Olympics, might decide to take a break after this season and focus on the next one
