WC: General Talk '14 — Sweden

  • Xenforo Cloud has upgraded us to version 2.3.6. Please report any issues you experience.
Gunnarson , Landeskog , Zetterberg listed as injured makes sense since Zetterberg is not 100% from his major back surgery , Gunnarson has had shoulder and wrist issues and Landeskog has a hand injury.

Going to an O'learys will probably be a safe bet. If the game you want to see is televised but not on their schedule just ask them and most of the time they can show it on one screen for you.

http://www.olearys.se/

Probably several, the sports bars usually have a sign at the door on which games they plan to show. Obviously it's usually Swedens games. Perhaps Finlands games is often showed too. The Swiss games less so, I would imagen.

If its empty or nobody watching you could probably ask the staff to turn channel to the hockey, if they are showing, lets say a football game.

Safest bet is O'learys as said by Coffe, but there is others too.

Thanks guys, much appreciated!
We are staying near Skanstull and apparently there is an O'Learys right around the corner. Any other Bar/Pub recommandations for Södermalm?

Actually I'm more interested in Swedens Games anyway! Are there any Sport Shops that sell swedish game worn Jerseys?

Thanks again for the infos!

Not that I know this, but I think he and most of the others listed as "injured", are just tired and unmotivated. It's easier to whine about feeling this and that, than just flat out say "I dont care about Tre Kronor and some second rate tournament, in some scruffy Soviet republic, I want to play golf".

Come on man.. If you start your sentence with "Not that I know this, but ... " then maybe you should think again about what your are about to make up.

The simple fact is that you don't know, neither do I. We don't know how it is to play hockey for a living, we don't know how tired and injured someone is after a full season of hockey, we don't know the pressure these players are under not to risk injury and we definitely don't know what these players are thinking about representing their nation playing in the WHC.

Quote from Aftonbladet today:
Även Mika Zibanejad var positiv till VM, men fick hälsoproblem och fördes till sjukhus i slutomgångarna av NHL och vågade inte fortsätta säsongen över VM.

So Zibanejad was considered but not invited due to injury.

Fact is that most of those players was playing just a week or a few weeks ago. It's pretty apparent that the injuries can be fought through if its important enough to. The WHC isn't important enough. Then there is a thing called "politics" or "diplomacy" which means that honesty ins't rewarded, it's better to pick your words and bring forth half-truths.

Personally, I hate politics and love honesty, I love people who arent afraid to speak thier mind (depending on what they say ha ha, but I can repect the actual honesty no matter what), but that's just me.

If you feel pressure from the employer that pays you ridiculous amounts of money to play a game, then says so. I certainly understand.

And the WCH should not be held olympic years.

End of rant.

I hear you, but at the same time I think that you are projecting your own sentiments on the players. That is what I have a problem with. You say they should be honest because you think that they are not honest.

I agree that some players, to a certain extent, chose to play through injuries when we are talking SC. I would argue though that it is probably different in many ways. First of all it is your team and you have probably played with them for some time, second, in the case of SC the team generally have limited options to replace you if you cannot play. Many players state that they have some injuries and that they are worn out and cannot do the national team justice. This is because they know that there are many qualified players waiting in line to replace you.

Psh, doesnt seem to hinder him some heavy beer drinking.... ;)

I think it will be fun anyway. Look at it as an opportunity to see players who you don't normally see playing... That is what I do and sometimes there are some pleasant surprises. Maybe, depends what you are watching of course.

EDIT: By the way... Landeskog, Bud Light and Pina Colada... WTF?

But we´re seeing this every year, more or less. I'm calling this bluff. Of course I could be wrong. How should I know 100% for sure? What do I know, really. But it's suspicious and I am allowed to speculate.

Not the right place to ask, but is there an official trailer for this year's WC? There is none on the IIHF youtube channel. Last year, the trailer was released about two weeks before the tournament.

Thanks

Metal is right up my alley!

After having a quick look at Kelly's Homepage...
You guys have to be luckiest men alive if you even get smoking
hot blondes at Metal/Rock Bars! :amazed:

We were contemplating on going to the Nine Inch Nails show
at the Hovet on Saturday, so i'll have a look around at the Globen!

The headline is deceiving, he basically says that he is waiting for Lundqvist and got the door open for at least one random skater (a D-man most likely).

I thought it was even more open than that. Right now the team has 25 players, 3 G, 8 D and 14 FW but they will only send 2 G, 6-7 D and 12 FW to Minsk. Apart from the goalie it should mean that we can bring in 1-2 D and 2 FW which sounds about right to me (Brodin, Stralman, Hagelin and Silfverberg).

Correct, but that only furthers the point that the media (surprisingly!) tries to kick up another ****-storm.
