Getting Steen and FranzÃ©n would obviously be great but I don't think it's likely, id be shocked if they accepted.

MÃ¥rts has gone full BÃ…G, let's cut our losses and replace him now. His tactical approach is sound IMO but new blood is needed, he is looking more and more like an Undertaker on the bench.

Yep, was more than a little bitter when I wrote that. But I guess its unfair to Hedman, he is not the only one who declined with mysterious injuries (ahem, Edler).

Erik Karlsson was at least honset about that he didn't feel motivated.

Anyhow, it doesn't reflect well on the NHL players, olympic year or not.. or the management for that matter for not managing to get the players on board. And why in the world wasn't Zibanejad invited?

It's bad for Swedish hockey, we need to have some stars playing in the only yearly event Swedish people are able to watch them. Meanwhile, Jaromir Jagr, 42, is getting ready to play his 16th WC tournament after playing the Olympics as well.

Think I've never been less excited by the world championships. I'll still watch though, but I guess there are quite a few casual fans who won't.

The born optimist notice the game 7 in the NHL playoffs quarter finals ends around 14-16 of May. The WC quarterfinals STARTS at the 22th.

* Grossmann not mentioned, could this mean they won't invite him? If so, that would be a mistake IMO

Erik Gustafsson is only a doctor's examination from joining (MÃ¥rts on Viasat after the game today, 2-3 Czechia). Nygren or Hersley probably out. The last is what I believe. Guess Hersley. His mistake was bigger than Nygren's today.

Landeskog is "given time to land" which is no way to be seen as a "yes".

Gustafsson doesn't have contract for next year, so highly unlikely he would even come.

The Ducks didn't have any say in it. The Swedish hockey association had the right to recall him for the WC since he spent the season in Sweden.

Only watched the second half of the game.. Our D is soo slow. Ekholm was involved and looked good but that was it of the good stuff. Hersley's had about 4-5 complete defensive breakdowns now in the exhibition games, I don't think a good shot can take you all the way. Erik Gustafsson will look like an all-star in comparison to these guys.
