This team will bring great results.
It depends on what do you mean by 'great results'. It's a pretty average team, but you should be the favorites to make the play-offs when compared to Norway/Denmark/France.

If you get lucky and get a weaker opponent in the play-offs (someone like the USA or Switzerland), you can realistically make the semis. But that's pretty much the ceiling for this team.

7th-8th place finish is much more realistic though.

I mean it looks like very fast team, something what we were missing recently. Skating is crucial on a big ice.

This team will bring great results.

our defense is inexperienced and lacking international quality. 7 out of 8 are not suit for top 4 role, most of them maybe 7th def at best. In the offense there are some talented players but then again mostly inexperienced and unproven. Dont get me wrong, there are many good things but there is absolutely no reason to say that this team will bring great results. Actually Its kind of emberresing for me to read something like that when someone else see that roster. They might surprise though and I will be cheering for them.

Meh, emabarrasing? Embarrasing was that bunch of proven players with Slovenia.
QF would be great result based on previous two years.

I would have taken Stajnoch and cut Mihalik. Otherwise Vujtek has chosen the best players available.

Why previous two years though? I mean speaking just about the WC, not the Olympics, Slovakia had its best results in the last tourneys - silver in 2012 and QF in 2013. A great results compared to teh results 2008-2011 would be more like it.

I don't dare predict the result of this team, though I do think they have the potential to make it at least to the QF but this ourney is sure to be exciting for Slovak fans. :)

One shows a positive excitement about roster and is steamrolled...
Sure, it's young and unexperied roster, what looks not very good on paper (not to mention Mihalik - always is there someone from Mihalik, Jurcina, Mezei trio). But I do believe, they at least will skate for they lives, something what is crucial for big ice IMO.

this roster is very refreshing thats for sure. Maybe new era is starting right know, who knows but Its gonna take some time.

I wasn't really disagreeing with you, just saying that the comparison with 2012 and 2013 was a bit strange considering that the overall results were good in those years. But I'm really excited about this team as well. :)

I don't get the Mihalik selection. What does he bring to the table? His oh so great 15 NHL games experience??? Or do we need a heavy weight fighter on our national team? Maybe other teams are bringing one as well and we need him to match up against them :P.

I am really not into conspiracy theories, but I'd like to see Vujtek explain this one.

Mihalik played good in the last championat and looked not bad in Slovan, plus maybe Vujtek wanted a strong, big man. But I agree, Stajnoch looked better. But I am glad that wont see Jurcina, Vydareny, Zaborsky in the roster.

Im surprised with Brejcak. He played only few games in KHL. Vujtek has very diferent opinioon to Slovan players, as it is by Rostislav Cada. Also with Andrej Stastny. Under Cada he is on the ice for 5-6 minutes, but Vujtek want him as a second center...

Å ťastný could be great third line center in Slovan(playing 13-15 min), but Čada won't give him more ice time and I don't understand why. Where Vujtek said, that he wants Å ťastný as second center? I'm afraid, that he will be healthy scratch for first couple of games.

Zostava Slovenska na prvý zápas proti Česku:

Ok, maybe not here on WCH. But in other season tournaments... He very oft said, that Stastny is very good player...

Great to see such a young Slovak team! I was really expecting to see another WC of the old guard, but this is very refreshing. I like that a couple of older, proven players were brought in for leadership and that the rest of the group are up-and-coming NHL prospects, draft picks and young KHL players. This is a positive move for Slovakia's hockey program. I can't wait to watch todays game against Canada!

Except the main reason why you don't see what you were expecting is because those players declined to come, it isn't a part of some kind of well thoughed plan for the future that we have the team we do. Coach Vujtek has even stated that the team we have here is a team that was put together out of despair (out of all the declines I presume). Still most of us don't really complain that it turned ou this way.

This team is good. The only weakness is defense. I mean, who do we really miss?

Visnovsky, Sekera, Granak, Sersen, Kopecky, Hossa - all injured. They would play if healthy.

I don't really miss Kudroc, Vydareny, Surovy, Ruzicka, Jurcina, Radivojevic. Their NT campaign is hopefully over. Bliznak, Olvecky nad Zaborsky had awful season and don't deserve to play at WC.

Baranka, Starosta, Bartovic - declined. I could imagine them being in the team. All in all, just 3 declines.
