RNH was never in the equation. But Hall finished tied for 6th in scoring. Eberle has proven that he performs well on the international stage. Nash was having a terrible season but they took him anyways.

Team Canada is all politics. MSL gets excluded but then added again to appease him. Giroux was given a massive snub because he either A) Didn't attend the camp or B) Crosby didn't want him on the team.

Kunitz gets a free pass on Crosby's coattails.

The Oil kids unfortunately play for the wrong team as team success was obviously taken into account. And how they handled Hall being excluded was a joke.

Nobody is discrediting the team because they won gold but that was largely on Team Canada's D.

Scoring was a major issue and they nearly lost to Latvia because of it.
MSL, Duchene etc.. when given the opportunity did nothing with it.

You may want to read Mr. Writer's post responding to you. All I see from your post is excuse after excuse after excuse. That's not the point of our discussion.

What we're talking about is the current situation and what young players need to do in order to make the next team in 2018. This year's WHC is a great opportunity to do that with no Olympians in the mix.

If Hall wants to make the next team, then go talk to Ryan Smyth about what to do and get your butt to work. If you have information regarding that, then I'm interested. If not, I have zero interest in your attempt to defend your Oilers when that's not what we're talking about. It's only you who is singling them out. We have have been having a general discussion about all of the kids. Jeff Skinner is another player that needs to get his head out of his butt if he wants to wear the Maple Leaf in Korea.

You literally said in your previous post that they did nothing to deserve a shot over the other young players.

That is exactly what I am responding to.

I don't have to make "excuses" for the players not going. The roster is terrible. There are literally dozens of players that can go but for whatever reason they are choosing not to.

Sure the young guys like Skinner have the chance to step up, but I am not going to blame them and say they have their heads up their butts for choosing not to go.

Would I like for the roster to be stacked? Absolutely. But I'll still cheer on the team either way.

As a Devils fan I was really hoping to see Zajac or Henrique play for team Canada, I'm surprised they haven't been invited. Both of them could be use in a defensive role and play on the PK. New Jersey had the best PK this year and both of them was playing over 2 minutes per game in this situation

Henrique has a groin injury. Would like Zajac to be invited though.

Then you should play closer attention every year... I ripped on Stamkos the year he went balls out to score 60 in the final few games of the the season, but then said, sorry folks bum shoulder can't go.... I don't play favorites or let my team loyalties get in the way.. I'm consistent every year and every year I called out Iggy.

And if you pay attention to my earlier posts on this I never once mentioned Eberle (he's played in 4 - I'll give him a pass) never was particularly interested in RNH going anway; in fact I was hoping the only Oil to get an invite would be Hall, as realistically he's the only one with the best chance to make the A team when and if the World Cup rolls around in a few years... and it would be his best interest to give the WHC another shot to try and undo the stink of last year. And it wasn't all the coaches fault... yes, Ruff must carry some of the blame, but the vast majority of the blame falls directly on the player's shoulders. He wasn't good...and in fact I have my doubts Hall can ever be an effective player on big ice... speed is there, but I'm still questioning his hockey sense.

Just because you rip players from every team, that doesn't mean the media and other posters do the same.

Iginla was given a free pass every year. And there are always players dealing with mysterious injuries that they have been apparently playing through.

Gio has a hurt hand but what about T.J Bodie?

And its crazy to call out the younger players when it seems the vets are invisible when Hockey Canada comes calling.

Hall has been wearing a knee brace since his knee on knee collision earlier this year. Eberle has had a wrist injury for a while now. RNH is coming off of a year where he just had shoulder surgery. I dont blame them at all for not going. More happy they are taking time off to rest.

I don't care about your "news source" and other jargin, the Oiler kids are gutless for not going

Scrivens and Reimer once again a tandem, cept this time its Scrivens that will be the starter

How dare they want to rest and heal instead of playing in a pointless tournament and risk further injury..

:shakehead

So Ladd, Kane, Little, Skinner etc... must all be gutless also.

I would rather have a healthy Oil team to start the season than see Tippett bench the kids for a few games because they don't play his style.

dont want a bunch of oilers there anyways

bozak is NOT on hockey canadas roster tho there are a few reports that he was confirmed? can someone clear this up

From this article: “Like anyone at this time, you have a couple of lingering things (injuries) that’s going to inhibit me from going,” Hall said Sunday. “That’s OK, I’m fine with not going and trying to get a head start on the summer of training and everything else.

“Last year was a tough experience. I’m looking forward to start training as early as I can and making sure I’m as strong as I can for next year.”

You'll have to forgive us for not excusing Hall due to having a few "lingering things" like everyone else has. Eberle at least has a strong international record. Hall has nothing substantial on his international record. Once again, I like Hall and I think he could be a very useful addition to future editions of Team Canada, but this is a terrible decision strategically. Hall needs to show that he is a good player on the larger ice surface, or he needs some practice runs to become a good player on that ice surface. He's never going to be good enough to just waltz onto Team Canada.

Henrique has a groin injury. Would like Zajac to be invited though.

I agree, Zajac would be a good defensive presence.

Ben Scrivens as well. There will be more after the 1st round

Notice that Bozak was not included on the initial list. I suspect that he has a conditional invitation (given how news regarding him has been framed), similar to the one Clarke MacArthur was extended a year or two ago. If a certain number of people do not accept, Bozak will get the official invitation.

No body cares about this tournament anymore, including the top players. Look at the roster. It isn't gutless. They have lives too. It used to be different because getting to represent Canada (when it was the best non-playoff Canadians) was an honour. Now it's not. Lol at calling them gutless

Getting to represent Canada in any way is an honour.

But if you have injuries that will affect the way you make your living, that's completely reasonable.

Our 'worst team ever' is still the best team in the tournament on paper.

That's fair, but what I'm saying is it is very different than it used to be because the tournament is losing a lot of legitimacy.

Lol some oiler fans I tell you. Complain that they're not going to a pointless tournament because they want to heal up and train. Then complain when nuge hasn't put on as much weight as you'd like in the offseason

I'm not too worried about the lineup as long as we can all chip in and fly that Xokkeu guy over for all our games.

Apparently his presence did wonders for us in Sochi.

He's Canadian hockeys good luck charm, despite the fact he would rather we never won a single game, how ironic is that?

Yet more proof Gods a Canadian hockey fan.

Bozak not on the roster on Hockey Canada website. Does that mean he declined invite?
