Hunter Jones has started 9 of 12 games so far for Peterborough.

He's 8-1 with a 2.57 GAA and .914 SV%. Leads the league in wins.
Saw that today. Predicting goalie success is a shit show but it’s a good sign nonetheless

And Veleno, and Noel, to a lesser extent. Veleno apparently looked very good at DRW camp, and at this point is considered to be on a par with Zadina by some of their ( admittedly fickle)fans. It sure would be nice to have a legit C prospect in the system who might be playing as early as this spring in the NHL.

I don't know why Fenton jr. Is still around...or maybe I do. I think that Guerin is waiting for a suitable time to quietly give him the boot.

*Joe Veleno

I was curious so I looked... Veleno is 0+0 and a -5 in 5 AHL games so far. As long as we're stat watching and all.

And we'll completely ignore last year? Since we're stat watching and all.

Ask yourself if you had to do it over again would you pick FJo? It's as simple as that. And this isn't Monday morning QB'ing. Just about everyone thought the puck was completely out of left field. Saying it was justified because Veleno has no points in the first 5 games this year...

Unless Fenton is on the forums here I don't think anyone here would have picked FJo the first time around.

Edit* Boom or bust FJo is the guy we did get, so it's water under the bridge. I just hope that whatever that Fenton (or whoever picked him, not worth that argument again) saw in the kid to make him our guy shows up in his development.

I wouldn’t be so quick to mock his stat line is all. Playing against men is sometimes hard, as Veleno seems to be finding out.

OK, then let's not draft anyway from the Q, is that it?

Put another way, is there anyone out there who would not do a straight trade of FJo for Veleno, especially given our team needs? I can't believe that posters are quibbling about this.

I don't think anyone is...

I said a few years back that the Wild when Lapointe was in charge over-scouted the Q and under-scouted the rest of the world. Easy to name examples of guys they took out of Quebec who had inflated offense and poor upside. Someday maybe we'll get some reporting on the dynamic there that has led to so many underwhelming picks but most likely not.

I wouldn't touch Lafreniere with a 40-foot baguette!

It's not to rag on the Q, but guys do tend to put up a lot of points there even relative to the other CHL leagues. We've seen guys like Phillips do very well there and do next to nothing once they hit the AHL. It just requires a few more grains of salt than some of the other leagues, in my mind.

I don't think anyone is really arguing anything, I just think some don't see the point of bringing this up repeatedly since nothing can be done about it.

All we can do at this point is hope FJo surprises and proves everyone here wrong. He's our prospect, it would benefit us greatly if he turns into a real asset for the franchise.

on track to beat his four points from last season.

in all seriousness, the Wild's 2017 draft is an all-time weird one

(you know, until the Filip Johansson pick the next year)

I wanted them to take the other Strome brother. I wasn't a fan of the 2017 draft at all, but their first pick that year was late 3rd rounder.
