I'd be extremely, extremely surprised. Robinson very nearly had a nervous breakdown the last time he was a head coach.

Oh, well that's unfortunate. I'd like to see him eventually take over as our HC. Nevertheless, I'm happy to have him on board with the Sharks.

Curious what the word is on Josefson, is he really scratch worthy or is it something else.

Leafs fan here, curious as to what's going on with Larsson? Would you consider trading him for something like Gardiner + Kulemin? I think Kulemin is the def'n of a player who would fit well in your system, would be tough for me to give up on him. The same goes for Gardiner, love the guy but with all our D prospects, particularly Rielly and Gardiner being a stand out in Carlyle's system I think we could move him.

Would Gardiner + Kulemin be something fair for Larsson? I think Gardiner could really help your defence adding another dimension to your breakout.

Larsson, if he progress well, could be a really good fit in our system with Carlyle. Especially being a RHD which we really need. Is someone like a more offensive Hjalmarsson a fair comparison for Larsson? Maybe a similar player to Paul Martin?

No, only player I would think to trade Larsson for is JVR or Kessel

Ya I want Gardiner but not at the expense of Larsson. But you have to give to get sadly. And I don't think we have anything worth to get Gardiner.

edit: If Larsson got traded to Toronto he'd probably be putting up 35points+ lol

Devs' lines today: Zubrus-Elias-Jagr; Henrique-Zajac-Ryder; Clowe-Loktionov-Brunner; Carter-Gionta-Bernier; Olesz-Josefson-Tedenby.

Tom Gulitti ‏@TGfireandice 34m
Devs' D pairs: Salvador-Zidlicky; Greene-Larsson; Volchenkov-Harrold; Fayne. Goalies: Brodeur, Schneider.

dont mind the look of the forward combos, aside from gionta still being in the lineup. gotta keep rotating with all the new faces to see if you can find some that are worth sticking to. even if its just getting one or two for now and cycling the other six guys in some fashion.

Merrill with 3 Assists with the baby Devils

Henrique-Zajac-Ryder looked really good. Keep them together please.

I want Elias with Brunner too

Still no Fayne. I get not wanting to bench Harrold because he did play well but grow some balls and put Volch and his horrid contract in the press box.

With the forwards. Gio is in there because he wants to have one line with some chemistry out there is my guess. There is no one else to sit for JJ or Olsez. Since Loki is proving he deserves to play.

His horrid contract is the only reason he's not in the press box. Nobody in the organization seems to want to admit they made a mistake with him and that they're better off without him. Until they do I expect him to play. If Fayne leaves this summer, I won't blame him at all. He deserves better.

I think we all should get used to the fact that Pete isn't going to sit Gio...at all.

As far as he's concerned, the CBGB line is good enough for him.

(even though he won't lose anything by at least TRYING players like Olesz/Yayo in Gio's place)

I don't see who Olesz should be in for other than Gio and it's not happening. I think slot Fayne in for Volch and then let the unit gel. If someone gets injured, Josefson/Olesz/Tedenby get their chances.

Agreed. I want JJ and Olsez in, but other then Gio I would not take anyone out, and only JJ would really sub in for Gio. All the wings are playing well, and so is Loki.

This is the problem with all this depth. Good players will have to sit. It is a good problem to have.

Volchenkov has looked worse than Tallinder, Fayne or Larsson ever have/had while playing for us yet he remains in the lineup and guys such as the 3 I mentioned get sat instead

I'm not going to lose sleep over this but it pisses me off that we have no-talent dusters like Harrold and Volchenkov in the lineup while Mark Fayne is sitting in the press box and Alex Urbom is on waivers.

You spend years cultivating a prospect, and when he's finally ready you lose him for free so that Peter Harrold can lose us more games with his atrocious defensive play and non-existent decision making skills. ****ing stupid.

This is what bothers me about it. It's just poor asset management to lose Urbom for free when there were so many better options for cutting our roster down to 23.

you guys are kidding yourselves if you don't think Lou tried to trade Urbom (or SOMEONE)

Of course he tried. But it should never have come to that, because waiving Gionta was clearly the better move.

This must be because of Volchenkov's contract. DeBoer can't justify leaving him in the press box. It does baffle me why he doesn't see Fayne's good qualities though.

Because he's stubborn as hell. He leans on the guys he likes, and if you get in his dog house good luck getting back out. Why else do you think Gionta continues to center the fourth line when he can't win a god damn faceoff to save his life?
