On Loktionov - He was out for part of the third period nursing an injury. If Deboer is giving him a few days off because of all the back to backs I don't mind it. Even if he's benching him for a day to have him watch and learn defensive responsibility I'm fine with that. As dynamic and creative as Loktionov is, he's going to need to learn to be at least average defensively to sign here long term. It's the same deal with Kovy. It took Kovy a long time to learn how to be defensively responsible and turn into a complete player.

On Larsson - It's inexcusable. Period. And if Larsson doesn't start @ Calgary it's a huge strike against Pete. At what point does Lou step in and tell him enough is enough?

On Josefson - If you're going to give ANYONE a day off the next man up should be Josefson after the tremendous preseason he had.

On Zajac/Brunner - Do you know what's worse than putting Zajac on a line with Elias? Putting Zajac on a line with Brunner. Pete thinks that Zajac will benefit from playing with creative, dyanamic players when, in reality, he needs a guy like Parise. The best possible line for Trav would be a line with Henrique and Zubrus. Travis is going to slow down Brunner more than anything else.

On guys who really need to be benched - Start holding Henrique responsible for his suck. At least he's signed here long term. Don't piss off guys on 1 year deals will sign elsewhere just to avoid your stupidity.

He is defensively responsible, he shouldnt be benched. Lokti on the other hand....

I don't mind benching Lokti if that's why he's being benched. That is though, despite the fact, that contextually that goal was on Greene for not clearing the zone way more than it was on Lokti. Still, it's no excuse for not being aware of your surroundings. But again, the kid is 22 years old. He's going to learn just like Larsson is learning.

Henrique has been far more abysmal offensively and on the PP than Lokti has been defensively. If Pete wants Henrique in there for his defense, that's alright too, but once we right the ship a little bit - if Henrique hasn't fixed his issues - he needs to be benched and held accountable.

I wouldn't mind Josefson playing for Henrique right now.

I'm tired of this ****ing excuse. Being defensively responsible seems to be the only god damn quality this organisation looks for in their players.

If that's the case, can someone tell me why #28 or anyone else who's been blowing their coverages and has over 7 years of service at the NHL level, aren't getting the same treatment as everyone else???

Giving favours to mediocre veterans doesn't improve the moral in the lockeroom. You're basically playing favorites and in any "familly", playing favorites will eventually burn you down the road. I think Larsson has had just about enough of getting the raw end of the deal when it comes to being benched.

We ask our rookies to take a "paycutt" and we reward their loyalty to our organisation by giving them the shaft. Larsson, Fayne, Loktionov must be thrilled about it all.

Zajac and Olesz are on that line, I don't think it is designed to spark them with Brunner on the other wing. Seems like he wants a C to help Brunner out in all 3 zones considering how putrid Loktionov is in his own end right now.

Never know how chemistry will work so I won't knock it before they try it. I'm ok with that switch actually.

Loktionov, Larsson, Fayne, and Josefson should all be playing much more regularly than they do right now. Benching every young player we have is absurd. Pete is trying to get fired.

I think what we're also learning is that it's very difficult to Win-Now and to Re-Build at the same time. The Devils are stuck in this perpetual oxymoron for a few years, really. Pete is coaching for his job so he's not going to rely on young players that make silly mistakes. He's going to rely on veteran players who, while they will make mistakes, have a longer track record of reliability.

I completely disagree with this given how important it is for the Devils to obtain experience for their youngsters (also because most of our youngsters are better than the veterans they're playing over).

Yes PDB plays favorites. It's pretty clear that he's going to run with Olesz, Carter, Gionta, A-Train, Harrold until Lou fires him. Loktionov, Josefson, Tedenby, Larsson, and Fayne just need to be patient and give it a few more weeks of this ridiculous coaching. Lou doesn't put up with this ****. He'll fire him.

I agree, it's hogwash by Pete.

Lokti has backchecked well quite a few times this season.
One missed assignment sends him and other young players to the pressbox, meanwhile the fossils on the blueline consistantly make the same turnovers that lead to backbreaking goals against, but they stay in the lineup.

FIRE PETE!! This weekend.

I just don’t get it. Tom Coughlin won 2 Super Bowls and is thus getting a pass from management for the horrible job he’s doing (It’s not just Eli). Pete DeBoer seems to be getting the same pass based on his trip to the Finals in his first year.

His allegiance to veterans and failure to play young players is going to be the demise of this team.

Speaking of getting a pass, the infamous “fourth line†seems to be getting one for their gritty performance in the trip to the Finals. They are a combined MINUS 10! Let the fifth line play as the fourth line. Loktionov, Josefson & Tedenby, give them a shot, at least they can blow by slow defensemen on the other team.

And I’ll say it again, there is NO WAY Adam Larsson deserves to sit over Peter Harrold, or Volchenkov, for that matter, but god forbid we put a $4 million player on the bench.

I'm usually of the belief that there are things regarding a player or two that we just don't know about in the public. Problems with people, injuries, etc.

But now... I'm just baffled. None of this lineup is making any sense anymore. I really like PDB's systems, but his lineups and player management are a little disconcerting to say the least.

Lou better be working the phone on a suitable replacement for PDB. Even if we can't rid of him this season we need to be prepared to not bring him back next season.

We have 3 of our own first round picks sitting in the press box while we continue to lose with older players still in the lineup who aren't contributing

Schneider played in the same division as the Flames for his entire career. Wtf goes through Pete's head? His logic is ****ing off. How was this guy a lawyer?
