Is Ratzlaff the most well regarded 05 goalie in Canada? We heard people say that he's in the mix with Hockey Canada, but it's impressive to see him as one of four goalies up for the WJC roster. Chances he makes the roster?

They barely mentioned Kulich. Oh yeah, big rookie AHL season from an 18 yr old and monster playoff. We may not have a Bedard or Nemec or Cooley in the system but the sheer quantity of quality is unrivaled.
They led with kulich, but, like intelligent analysts, they know our star prospects are Levi and the duo from WPG

Guess it all depends on how they define "prospect pipeline". I agree with the top 5 in general.....I'm just not so sure we're #1 if we're going with a traditional definition.
If you watched the top-10 prospects show Friday on NHLN, some insight to that question can be gleaned from an offhand comment made while discussing iirc the Minnesota Wild prospects, talking about their depth, "the Wild are 10, 12, maybe 15 deep in prospects that will play in the league, they're almost as deep as Buffalo" in that regard. Inference being, they were evaluating the entire prospect pool in general, although their spotlights/vignettes were about each team's top-5.

Those 4 are definitely top tier but we have 15ish that are projecting well and have good shots at being at least AHL regs. It's dumb.

We stole JJP, stole Kulich, probably Benson and a couple Russians as well. Can't mention everyone but the drafting and development brings a tear to my eye and is what will get us where we want to go.

I get the "Bedard makes your pool best" but even if he's McDavid, you still need a team around him, like McDavid does and it seems we'll be able to inject cheap young talent when we want to move guys out for contracts, fit, whatever. There's obviously still question marks with the entire group so I don't want to crown the D+D group yet but it sure does look like they are one of the best in the league right now.

As much as I want Savoie to make the team I don’t wanna rush him but I also feel he is the most NHL ready out of him , Kulich and Benson .

But I too wouldn’t be surprised if Benson made the team too .

Boy this will be the most exciting training camp we have had in almost 12 years

Savoie was not ready for the AHL more less the NHL. At least Kulich showed he could handle that.

I do not see any of the three being on the big club this year. They may all get a few games, but I expect Savoie and Benson will be linemates in the CHL for another year. I think Rousek will get the first crack at the Sabres lineup.

I don't know how fair it is to judge Savoie on that short playoff stint in Rochester. We would have liked to see him be an impact but it's tough to throw the kid into that situation and expect a lot.

Savoie, Benson or both could be traded from Wenatchee.

My guess is that Rousek starts as a 13. He's on a two-way for a reason this year and will determine his own path. There's still room to keep a Kulich or Savoie if they play themselves into that spot.

Eek. UPL. I've never had much faith in him. Comrie could be a solid backup if you have a great starter, though, I'll admit, he dealt with an injury early in the season, so maybe there's a bit more there. UPL is still young enough to have a bit of a leash. I just have hardly any confidence in him.

Savoie went from Juniors into an incredibly physical series against the Bears who were also a top tier defensive team. The Bears were probably the worst possible matchup for a young player making the jump to the pros.

He also didn't get much of an opportunity to showcase his skills since it was the playoffs and the coaching staff likely didn't want to go through his growing pains with each game being so important.

For clarity, I am not saying Savoie sucks, or is a bust, anything like that. I am not judging his whole future on a couple AHL playoff games. However, I was responding to the assertion that he is the most NHL ready of Benson, Savoie, and Kulich. Savoie was clearly overmatched by the larger size and physicality of the AHL, while Kulich was a top performer in that environment. It is clear to me that of the three, the one most NHL ready would be Kulich. That doesn't mean I think Kulich IS NHL ready, just more than the other two. I would love Savoie to play in the AHL this year but he can't. I expect him to play in the CHL this year and the AHL next year before making the jump to the NHL. I expect Kulich to spend another year in the AHL.

I do not think the Sabres are going to be doing another development year. I think they are going to keep the prospects in the cooker and let the current team try to push their game up another level. The exception being Levi. Rousek and UPL may make the team but are older and more developed already.

I believe that if Kulich can maintain his impressive playoff form where he had 11 points in 12 games he could be NHL ready mid season , we have Oloffson still who can play in the top 6 while Quinn recovers so we are fine

But yes Savoie should play in the World Juniors and junior with Benson

The one wildcard with Savoie is the fact that he was healthy heading into this summer as opposed to being injured and rehabbing last summer.

It wouldn't shock me at all if Savoie looks a lot better at camp than he did with the Amerks where he was put in a tough spot in that he was dropped into the team in the middle of the playoffs.

I was pretty high on UPL based on viewing, numbers crunching, scouting reports... saw him live vs Caps and he was the player on the ice that probably looked least ready for NHL action on either team. Played a real stinker and delivered 2 points to Washington (along with the refs). Didn't move well. Didn't track well. Didn't read well. Poor rebound control. It was a reality check.
