I think that's a big part of the gaining weight issue. For a player that's 175 pounds it may not really be necessary. Kisakov at 150 pounds when he was drafted however would have been the lightest player in the NHL. There aren't a ton of players in the NHL below 170 pounds (20 - 30 I think) and even fewer below 160. I think under 160 you can count the players who fit that on 1 hand.
Part of why that is the case is that these short-to-average height, thin prospects pretty much always manage to get up to 165-175 type range by the time they are a threat to make the NHL. We are talking about teenagers here, many of whom have never focused on strength training. I wouldn't worry about it until it is time to worry about it. I guess in Kisakov's case you can worry now to an extent if he is gonna be in the AHL, but in terms of his ability to eventually be effective in the NHL we have at least a couple off seasons for him to slowly and responsibly add weight and strength.

I could definitely be wrong, but.. is there a prospect under Adams regime that isnt really flourishing? I've heard & seen great things from a lotta these guys.

He took over from Botterill right before the 2020 draft and really hadn't had a chance to institute any of his policies, etc.

We had 5 picks in that draft. 2 -- Quinn and Peterka -- look like home runs. The other 3 -- Constantini, Lyckasen and Konecny -- don't look like much, though Konecny has looked OK lately.

The 2021 draft looks solid, though there is still some to be desired from Sardarian and Marjala.

Obviously WAYYYYY too early to say anything about 2022.

Marjala is off to a red hot start in Liiga U20. 14 points in 6 games.

Yes. Serge seemed surprised that he left and that it wasn't good for Quebec. Seems like it was his choice.
Welp if he can keep making noise in U20 and probably get some seasoning with the big club TPS, the Sabres will at least ask if he wants to come to camp. Maybe he figured if he was going to play in juniors it may as well be at home.

Could have also just been unhappy with his usage or ice time in Quebec.

He also has the opportunity to jump up onto the TPS main squad in Liiga over there, which it looks like he did for at least 1 game so far last Wednesday.

The Remparts have the Sabres recent draft pick Vsevolod Komarov and available in this draft Frantisek Ridzon as imports. They have Pier-Olivier Roy and Nicolas Savoie as overagers. And then a bunch of guys who turn 20 during the season (6 of them). Although I'm sure if he went back, Ridzon would have stayed in Czechia and Roy or Savoie would have been released (probably Roy, as Savoie scored 44 points last season as a Dman, while Roy scored 48 as a forward).

Could be other reasons as well - something going on in family/personal life that we don't know about that lead to the decision. Plenty of possibilities, but nice to see him having early season success, that's for sure.

Resolving the almost inevitable logjam at forward that will develop during the next 2-3 seasons will be an interesting challenge for Adams and staff. Keeping/developing versus trading, to provide a net benefit to the team, won't necessarily be easy.

A much more enjoyable challenge than a bare cupboard however.

Wright can't play in the AHL next year, so not him.

I can't imagine Slaf playing in the A. Or Nemec. Or Jircek.

So Mesar and Lambert would be the 2 major options to start in the A, IMO.
The AHL is probably the best place for Slaf. He needs to adjust to the North American game, and from what I saw of him in the prospects games and the pre-season he doesn't look ready for the NHL.

After watching Rochester last night, I seriously have no idea what KA is going to do with all these guys. You've got Quinn and Peterka already disrupting the NHL lineup, and the Sabres are going to have to find room for a hand full of these players as soon as next season.

They are going to have to trade some of these F's into D's. Chychrun makes so much sense not only from a roster standpoint (sorry, fitzy, bryson, joker), but from a tactical standpoint of keeping him off of Ott or Tor's roster.
