The year is 2035. Jack Quinn is wrapping up his 13th AHL season and has shattered the AHL career goal scoring record. He asks Buffalo’s 8th GM of his tenure if he can get a look next year on the big club. The GM says “no son…we missed the playoffs again…and none of your goals have been in the NHL. I wish there was another way”

Tage should have to sit down until he can beat out JT Compher because he played on a team that won

Seems obvious

Also they didn’t finish at the bottom of the division. Three whole teams finished behind them.
My bad. They were 32 points outside of the playoffs. 11 straight years.

I'm still confused as to how Quinn/JJP are being "gifted spots" after the seasons they each put up. Power is a 1OA pick and already went back for an extra year in college.

Am I missing something?

Psssst: It's okay to say "Alright you convinced me. After hearing your points I have changed my mind." Just because you posted something on the internet it doesn't mean you need to dig your heels in the ground and argue that point against all compelling evidence.

Develop the young ones in Rochester. When they are ready the vets get pushed down or out. waiting for some mystical date in the future when we are no longer “rebuilding“ is a bullshit excuse. The NHL is not for developing prospects. That is what got us into this mess in the first place.[

No need to respond I realize I am a part of a very small minority.
Yes prospects develop in the NHL. No matter how hard you try to argue against this reality. Its still a fact that it happens. Yes a fact.

We‘re also not in the situation we are in because of developing players in the NHL.

Quinn especially is hilarious. Dude lit it up the AHL. Something we havent seen from a 20 yr old rookie in a while. People just dont realize how crazy his season was because they dont lay attention to the AHL. He'll get his shot. For sure.

Add in that he also battled mono and injury. Having that season in those circumstances at 22 would have been some thing. Alex Nylander still cant do it. plus he was coming off that year the OHL shut down which I’ve been told is the reason supposedly great players are allowed to not progress.

No doubt. You can stash them in Rochester build a winning vibe and stock the big club with NHL talent with 32 mil in capspace they have. What I don't think you can do is field an NHL roster at the cap floor without gifting spots to players on ELCs.

No I don’t. They filled holes and beat out a player in doing so. But you ignore that they had vets like Mac, Landy, Buke, Kadri, Johnson, Makar, yea Makar, Manson, Lehkonen, Toews, Nuke Cogliano and others. The entire squad was seasoned. Byram and Newhook were slotted in where they belonged. Not given 2nd pairing minutes as a rookie, or slotted in for top 6 minutes as a rookie.

you want Buffalo to sign what exactly To supposedly prevent Peterka and Quinn getting onto buffalo?

anyone who is actually good aren’t doing short contracts. Given the e cess forwards buffalo woukd have and limited ones who do t have to clear waivers for es them down.

what’s also in play is a potential big UFA market the next two years. Do you waste money on secondary players now vswait till next 3 years market.

Yeah I don't get it. Any other team would've called both of those guys up last season and kept them up. Buffalo has been methodical and slow in bringing them along. It's their time.

If Quinn hadn't gotten injured in his second game, he would have stayed up. JJ was where he belonged last year. Now is the right time to bring him forward, but he has some pretty stiff competition. I don't think he's being gifted a spot. There's a good chance he'll earn it.

In addition, they're playing 24 games in the first 7 weeks to start the season. It'll be good to have an extra forward so that they can rotate rest days throughout the team. Finally, some decent depth will do them some good. May let some minor injuries heal or at least prevent them from worsening

I'm not advocating for this but KA could have very easily used his cap space to add established NHL players if he wanted to. Max Paciorrety is an example.

If anyone got injured they could keep savoie on the roster for a few weeks limiting his time to under day/ game count.

remrmber…many teams still are over the cap or have lityke room after signing RFAs. Buffalo still can be in the unload cap space trades.

Is Savoie available for injury call-up If he's still in juniors? Unless you're talking about right out of camp . . .

I'm fine with making cap space trades, but I think they should be limited to assets where they retain salary and flip. We're no longer in the position where we'd ice lukewarm bodies on poor-value contracts for mediocre futures.

At the start of the season if there were injuries he could stay for 9 g or 29 days before burning yr 1. Only in an emergency can you resort to recalling signed CHL players

thr issue is buffalo has roster limits With forwards. It could fir e Krebs, Quinn, or peterka to be sent down if the team added a bunch of high salary players in trades.

R2 went to Switzerland because he didn’t want to be sent down to theAHL.

the roster right now is

Skinner-tage-olofsson
xxx-Mitts-Tuch
Asplund-Cozens-Hino
Girgs-xxx-Okposo
bjork

xxx= Quinn Peterka krebs

with R2 going to Switzerland buffalo could add 1-2 F as cap dumps.

Mods need to start a new RyJo thread so I can post, but happy birthday to Ryan!

Why do we need a new RyJo thread? Not yet anyway....

Let's wait first to see if he signs, and then we can delete all the shit we said about him (or keep that one going if he doesn't)

p.s. I do NOT wish a happy birthday to Johnson. F**k him! :naughty:
