I would recommend waiting until after the U20 camps and the August U20 tournament but before the start of the prospect tournament in September.

I’d also argue that Krebs and Power are not options in that poll, given that they’re expected to be in Buffalo at the start of the season. Same with Kjell 2.0 and possibly Quinn.

That is why I prefer doing polls of players under a certain age more than just trying to figure who is and who is not a prospect.

Sabres had to learn things the hard way. You need to have a good ameteur scouting staff, good analytics department, high picks, and good development.

Hopefully Granato is right, they are on the verge of something pretty special.

I would be surprised if all 3 did, I'm expecting 2 of the 3 (with Levi being a 99% chance)

The prospect challenge will be interesting, but we'll have to invite 2 fa goalies. Portillo and Levi will be in school, Leinonen in Europe.

Also, will the NHL guys play? (Power, Krebs, Sam). I imagine Quinn and Peterka will.

They usually put a professional season/NHL game cap on the participants. Off the top of my head I don’t remember what that is or if that has changed for this coming season.

I mentioned a few times during last Fall's rankings how deep our top 20 is/was. Well, it just got deeper. Much deeper. I can easily imagine 5 or 6 2022 draftees cracking our top 20 this year, and we're not graduating that many. We might legit go 25 deep in guys who might/could/should get at least a cup of coffee in the NHL.

I had a post about this and let it go to avoid the silly arguments that don’t make sense I could see coming.

The gist of it was trades are coming. In two years Skinner and Tuch are here…and they have 9 other forwards conceivably in the nhl age 26 or younger. Not…guys who might make it from round 3…I mean 9 other guys who are going to play in this league. And I wasn’t including Ostlund or the Russians because I assume they’re two years from even coming to NA…or are no sure thing like Kisakov. I didn’t even include Rosen. And then we have a long list of guys on the cusp that could make it. And none of these are traditional fourth line players btw. Oh and 4 picks in the first two rounds next year.

If we only count the top young players who have already or will play in the league there are too many already.

Multiple trades are coming.

I agree with you. And even wilder - it might not be Portillo until 2024.
