So is "please go f*** yourself" cool then? Asking for a friend. ;)

That seems like a friendly request for self-service, so depends on context?

I expect this spike to be much bigger than what (lets say the average person) was expecting from Florida.

I think that the beach was one of the lowest possible transmission points but most people were still also showing high levels of caution, which largely weren't being shown in the protest and riot hot spots.

I just hope that we aren't moved back a phase because of all of this

I certainly expected a spike from Florida given their caution-to-the-wind approach but it appears that their protection of vulnerable populations while saying 'f*** it' to everyone else is working out okay thus far!

8 deaths in Oc today and 7 were from an SNF . Dang. these SNFs are cesspools

It's a seriously sad worldwide failure that requires a long hard look at how we treat society's elders.

This was an issue before COVID, but one absolutely highlighted by it.

True, but SNFs are mostly the elderly, but not entirely

That is one gigantic can of worms that I don't even want to open

Life expectancy is the longest it has ever been

and expected to only continue increasing.

I am going to skip this part and shift it to: I hope that this virus does open people's eyes about the danger of type 2 diabetes (please say it like Wilfred Brimley when you read it)
I am starting to really give credence to the docs who are now saying that Covid is a vascular disease
https://elemental.medium.com/corona...isease-which-explains-everything-2c4032481ab2

The data has been hard to come by but I have seen a few snippets saying that this is ravaging diabetics the hardest.
As the fattest nation in the world, I hope that this is the wake up call to not east fast food 6x a week and to start exercising a little

I had fast food once last year out of necessity, stopping at a Wendy's driving from Hartford to Central Vermont. Before that I think it had probably been like 10 years, which is crazy to think about considering when I was young I lived on Del Taco & Burger King. Bourbon, on the other hand... I was also supposed to start PT for my knee (old hockey injury) right when COVID hit so I could get back to regular exercise. Needless to say that hasn't happened.

But yeah, Americans by & large are f***ing large.

I am glad that someone is finally thinking of the hookers

The term hookers and blow might not have the same meaning after this is all over
That's "providers" to you mister. The oldest profession in the world has survived the black plague, massive wars, the great depression, countless recessions, etc. I have a feeling they are going to make it through COVID-19.

i've never actually visualized that before, that the life expectancy has grown 15+ years from my parents generation

that's kind of insane tbh

People would have like 6 kids and 3 would make it full adulthood.
It must have been weird to know know what people died from before modern medicine or even any understanding of health.

Life expentency means nothing without quality of life. The rigors of old age are not for the weak of heart. I watched three of my grandparents go though it (helping) and now Mom (full time). No thank you. I am going to die, we all are, but not like that for me.
Very true. My grandmother has basically been living the live of a potted plant for the last few years. Seems like a real shitty way to go after 90+ years.

Some COVID-19 news.

We have the results from the Minnesota double blind trial for hydroxychloriquine. This was studying whether the drug had any benefit as a prophylactic, to prevent onset of the disease, and did not study its use to prevent death in patients who already had the virus.

It result was that 11.8% of people taking the drug developed COVID-19, compared with 14.3% of those taking vitamins. The 2.5% difference was not considered statistically significant. The article says that basically 42 people have to be given the drug for one person to experience a prophylactic benefit.

Hydroxychloroquine drug in University of Minnesota trial does little to prevent COVID-19

As to serious side effects, there were none in the study: "The study showed that 40% experienced mild side effects such as nausea, but it allayed fears that widespread use of the drug could result in cardiac and other complications."

This shouldn't be surprising since the drug is in wide-spread use with millions of doses made every year. Provided you have a competent doctor aware of risk factors, this drug is very safe.

I don't have a link, but there was a recent study (widely reported) that found the drug very dangerous and lead the WHO to suspend its trial. The study was found to be bogus and the WHO has now resumed its study. One of the authors of the study was apparently a science fiction author, not a scientist.

Strictly talking about the bolded part, this has nothing to do with any good or any bad of Hydroxychloroquine
It's truly scary that we can no longer trust what we read and that a study by completely unqualified people somehow influenced government policy. Scary

Sounds about right. I wonder if The Seattle Seven were the others... The Dude Abides.

No doubt, but this isn't really new. The reality of incompetent boobs holding positions of power and influence has been a staple of civilization for thousands of years. The positive side is that information flows much faster now (for better and worse) so outing con men and charlatans is easier than ever. If this was 1820 no one would ever know that dude was unqualified.

If it were 1820, would be cool if it were this guy

No increase in COVID-19 infections from Ozarks pool party in Missouri.

No new COVID-19 cases from Lake of the Ozarks crowds, Missouri health director says

CNN and MSNBC were hit hardest by the news.

Isn't it amazing that the lack of social distancing is okay in the media's eyes so long as people are protesting George Floyd's murder?

...it's hardly been a week. I wouldn't be rushing to proclaim victory over the disease quite yet.

nevertheless it will be VERY interesting if those results stick. Pretty sure that'll be the point a whole lot of people say 'f*** this' especially given there was at least that one dude, tracked closely, actively carrying the virus from party to party.

I'm a little torn between "this is great news" and skepticism over the reporting for now.

Interesting perspective I was listening to this morning asked the following question:

Are you into protest, or progress?

Remember, well done is better than well said.

Anyone see the "North Idaho Welcome" on YouTube? It was awesome. So far we have had, from Couer D Alene up a total of 14 BLM protesters and they where all very cool people. Just wanted to get the word out that there are people in the Black Community who feel oppressed and underrepresented. No troubles, no worries just voices. All good.

That said we did chase out a couple of white Sprinter vans full of Antifa/Anti American scum. They ended up getting busted at the Washington State line. I think that we up here are a microcosm of how most Americans feel about this matter. We understand your frustration and want you to exercise your rights as Americans to peaceably assemble and protest your govt. Most Americans support everyones rights to exercise their personal rights under the constitution and will stand up to see that people do so. The rest in nonsense that is entirely unacceptable. Hope I didn't step on anyones toes.
