It is so hard for me not to go back to the trade boards and ask the Edmonton fans if they still think Brodin would play on their 3rd pair after watching this disaster. They are so bad in their zone.

I don't know if Klefbom was gassed on that PP, but he looked slow as shit chasing after Kampf on the breakaway.

I couldn't really believe how delusional Oilers are about their D.

If I was a Pens fan and he gave up this years pick? I would be out of my mind upset.

I wouldn't love it either, but when you consider that even pick 15 is at least 2-3 years from making an impact in the NHL, and weigh that against an unprotected first? Someone just brought up the point that they were below .500 down the stretch and they just got knocked out by the worst team in the tournament. If you're Rutherford, don't you at least consider giving up tbt devil you know?

Just saying I wouldn't be at all surprised if we still get it, even if I'm not expecting it.

2019 and 2020 both have teams giving their top 5 pick away. I know it's less likely with guys like Crosby and Malkin, but I don't know how many people foresaw San Jose's season.

They will keep this years pick. From Rutherford’s perspective, if the team is bad next year, he’s out of a job regardless of if he gave up the pick or not

If Pittsburgh is a bottom 5-10 team next year, Rutherford won't be around to deal with the mess anyhow.

Both Edmonton and Toronto should be throwing assets at us for his services.

Chicago wins. Both 12 seeds move on.

The Wild will now pick either 1st or 9th if they lose. The three teams with a lower point total all advanced.

None of those teams want to stay in the bubble for months on end. Plus they might get Laf. Can you blame them? Kane wasn’t even trying. Toronto down, and prob not trying either.

I swear this franchise is cursed; Fletcher is fired from this franchise after years of mediocre play and not getting anywhere. He goes to the Flyers and now they are the 1st Seed in the Eastern Conference. He inherited a good team, but his hiring of Vigneault seems pretty good...and Hayes was a surprise. Bringing in Niskanen and Braun helped their defense. Somehow Grant has exploded for 5 points in 7 games for them and has been a good depth player along with Nate Thompson. It's funny how much Fletcher likes Prosser as he's now playing for the Flyers.

Fletcher's moves in Philadelphia were no better or worse than his moves here. The Flyers were on this trajectory before he took over.

When you inherit a solid group of highly skilled forwards and have young good potential defenders its pretty easy for fletcher to have a field day with his trades for role players and vets. Plus their goalie play is finally settling into consistency which has been their biggest issue for years.

Also an owner that doesn't insist on playoffs the same year you're hired.

As I mentioned, I think hiring Vigneault was a good move for them.

I'm curious to see how Fletcher will continue in Philadelphia.

He's got a very similar team to what he had in Minnesota. Solid, pretty deep, questionable goaltending, no real superstars.
