Well, we don't know whether she did or not. It just seems that she didn't consider the possibility that she'd do so suddenly and without anyone finding out for weeks, which I don't blame her for.I heard the mortality rate of hantavirus is between 30 to 50%. I hate to pass judgment on the deceased, but I think she should have considered the possibility that she could pass away prior to him.
It's usually transmitted via mouse excrement. Maybe one of the dogs (which are immune to the virus) was eating mouse poop and licked her face or got it on its fur and she petted it and then rubbed her eyes.I'm just wondering how she got hantavirus, it's not exactly a common illness.
She probably thought it was the flu that she came down with. A lot of similar symptoms. Fever, nausea, muscle aches, chills, etc.Well, we don't know whether she did or not. This is like a weird episode of CSI.
Nobody spoke to Gene Hackman for an entire week?
His wife being found in the bathroom with an open prescription bottle is likely why it’s deemed suspicious.
Obviously, the beginning of getting used to a new person to help would be tough but I agree it would be worth it overall.I'm just surprised they had nobody in the home taking care of Hackman. Yea, his wife was still capable of doing so but hell, they had the money for a PSW so why put yourself through all that stress? Especially at her age when medical incidents are more likely to (and did) happen.
If I had a parent with Alzheimers then I'd certainly be calling them at least once every two days to make sure nothings happened.

Plus at least it does provide his wife a break from being the main caretaker. Bruce Willis wife came out with a post about caretakers needing support as well. She’s taking care of Bruce plus their 2 daughters who I believe are about early teens. A lot on her plate.
I mean she got sick with what she must have thought was a flu. But what was the plan if that occurred and she was out of commission for a couple of days to take care of Gene?
Easier said than done. My mom was utterly perplexed by phones and impossible to call for her last decade. Hell, she was barely able to communicate her last ~5 years.
Caretakers need a lot of support. I was forced into that role as a teenager and it f***ing broke me.
Yep, it also gets into the Quantity vs Quality of life question. At some point, when you have the kind of conditions Gene/Bruce have, the quality of life drops to where you're almost just existing vs living. And not just for yourself, but for your loved ones who then have to adjust their lives to care for you.Its a lot on their plate too; at that age you're in the beginning of your prime years and obviously wanna hang with your friends, go to parties et all.
Fair, it affects everyone differently. I know my grandmother would still answer the phone all the time.
