Good period, but the US needs to tighten up their defense in the second. Nice goal by the US on what started out looking like a broken play. DiPietro's looked good, I think he's earned his spot as the starter for the rest of the tournament.
 
Eric Cole was already one of my favorite players in the league, but he's quickly becoming one of the most fun guys to watch.
 
Really Forsberg should go home ! It make no sense ! he will end hes career to early with stuff like that :shakehead

I'd have to say the RUS-SWE or FIN-CZE games have been the best so far.

This game lacks a bit of speed.

DiPiertro needs to control his rebounds though, other than that, he's been very fine.

Cole is also playing excellent. It's our defense that looked a bit shaky out there. To much running around. Swedes are also doing a good job on face-offs.

I think the injury risk of being the 13th forward in a game is pretty low. Him sitting this game was planned several days ago.

Aside from Hatcher, I think the defense has been alright.. A bit nervous it seems but not bad.

Agreed. I haven't seen many Hurricanes games, so I haven't seen too much of Cole, but I've been really impressed, especially this game. Our defense looked a lot shaky, I've seen Hatcher pinch deep into the Swedish zone multiple times and I keep praying he won't get caught in there.

It should have been caught, and a face-off. Grahme had no chance, DiPietro did.

Get used to it, Dipietro always has given up alot of rebounds and relies quite a bit on his defense getting to them, this is largely why he has had an awful season this year in the NHL....he has had no defense in front of him on long island,

I think he wanted to play but the doctors said no. I think he will rest against the slovaks too.

If it's necessary to make a drastic change. Say, Sweden being down 4-1 after two periods, I'd bet my money on Forsberg playing the third.
He won't play unless it's necessary.
 
Good period of hockey. Sweden looked very good for 15 minutes then the U.S finished strong. I prediciting a 2-2 tie, if Sweden score more than 2 they will win, cause Lundqvist wont allow more. ;)

I respectfully disgaree, the argument to why Forsberg can be rested tonight was that Sweden already secured a place in the quarters so what difference does it make if they are down 4-1, a loss does not really matter at all considering how the other group is shaping up.
