I hope they shove it right up their a**. Phaneuf hopefully has some bulleyes for Ovechkin and Malkin

I think Phaneuf would be better served by actually playing defense than headhunting against this squad. With Canada's goaltending, one missed check can be the difference in the game.

Besides, judging by what happened when Tootoo tried to run Ovechkin, Phaneuf will probably be the one to get the worst of it. You aren't in the WHL anymore, kid.

I was rooting for the US, but I really dont see what the big fuss is over the Russians taunting. They came into a hostile environment and outplayed the US. I know I'd be doing the same thing if I were in their shoes.
I agree. I'm not a fan of either team, I was actually rooting for the US at the beginning. I obviously don't condone the taunting, but like I said, I had a bigger problem with the high sticks and cross checks at the end of the game. You see taunting like that all the time. It's almost become part of the game. And no, it's not only the Russians.

Good luck Russia, you'll be needing it. Myself, I'll be cheering Canada (and it has nothing to do with "class" or "sportsmanship" of tonight's game).

The US now needs to figure out what needs to be done against the Czechs so they can at least get a medal out of this. Hot topic points for next tourney will most definitely be defense, right?

:speechles

psst...Ovechkin tied for WJC scoring lead w/Bergeron...

How do you know Ovechkin wasn't showing his jersey to a crowd of obnoxious, abusive fans sitting behind him? They were jawing at the Russian bench all night long. AO looked like he was responding, and according to the hypocrits that regular these boards, that's commendable!

nice to see OSully and Fritsche can take a loss

Have you ever played hockey? If you have, you'd know that as soon as ANY player does that, you put him on his back. If someone else does it, you do it again.

That's hockey.

I've never seen coaches and players turning around to the crowd making jesters and spitting on the glass. Even the ESPN announcers said it was classless.

Wouldn't mind a skull busting hit on Ovechkin after Canada gets up by 5 goals in the first period.

oh, if Andy Brickley says it's classless, then it must be true

Does the clock count up or down?

Your comparing Tootoo to Phaneuf? The Russians better bring their A game.Hunting season started early this year.Canada is going to be bringing the pain

As for the game itself, the U.S. was hardly dominated. It was 3-2 for the longest time and both teams went back and forth. The fact that the U.S. was extremely undisciplined and was talking penalties left and right doesn't help matters either. It only got out of hand towards the end of the game when Russians began tripping over themselves to get empty-netters.

Sorry, but I've never seen it quite like that before in hockey. Football, yes, but not in hockey and the Russians should be ashamed.

I don't get it. The US team has been whining and cheapshoting and showing bad attitude all tournament. The O'Sullivan act vs the Swedes, where he mocks a player by rubbing his fist under his eye ("oh oh, the baby is crying") really was a classier move? I think there's been a lot of bad words exchanged during the game, it was obvious when Shikorov got hurt and returned to his bench that there was like 4-5 US players insulting him from their bench.

Ovechkin is cocky and arrogant, sure. But I think the little acts at the end of the game were only answering the general attitude of both teams. No big deal.

But hey, I sure hope Canada shows those Russians how to play that game, but by playing at a level where they won't be able to compete, not by crushing them stupidly. Carter for another hat trick!

That was great. :lol

If the US did this, would it be such a big deal? People would probably be cheering and calling it "youthful exuberance".

No, it would be an absolute disgrace. Now, I'm sure there are some homers on these boards who will turn a blind eye to anything their team does, but if Suter or Fritsche showed that level of class, I would hang my head in shame. It's not enough for Russia to be the clearly superior team in every aspect of the game, they have to be completely arrogant and disrespectful. I should cheer wholeheartedly for Russia because they have two Preds prospects that figure well in to our future, but it's just too hard. I only hope, if Canada wins, they don't do similar things. My initial thoughts are that they won't behave as such.

Nonetheless, congrats to the Russian players and the fans on a well deserved victory! They are truely one of the top 2.

Ovechkin, is as talented as Crosby (maybe a bit less). but what makes people say that crosby is the next one is that the guy has sportmanship.

Ovechking is just a big head with a big shot's visor... tonight he proved to the entire world that he was an arrogant player... Another arrogant russian :shakehead

Russia always acts like a bunch of cocky kids, when ever they win these guys. Im not impressed with the way they acted. I dont care, if your hostile terroritory. It doesent matter, They are playing in the States, they should be expected to be booed, or whatevery by U.S fans. Its the way it is.

Not impressed with Russia. they always acted like this. Cocky, immature. Its hard not to cheer against Russia.

hahahahahahha... you need to practice your hockey watching!

A to Z domination by the Russian team....

And that my friends is the difference between the two. You can be a great player but have the wrong attitude. How many times have we seen this? (Jagr, Yashin, etc) Ovechkin to me will be exactly like those two.

Crosby on the other hand is the exact opposite. A great player with a lot of class (Gretzky, Lemieux, Yzerman).

I certainly hope, for Ovechkin's sake, he doesn't try that in the NHL. He'd find himself out cold pretty fast :P

The word on the street is that Gretzky is a freggin ?%$?%$... Chantal Machabée, anchor for Sport 30 Mag on RDS, said he was one of the worst athlete she ever met...

I don't have any doubt about that.. I still remember when the Belarussian delegation askd him about his belarussian roots, he refused to answer.. class, one again!
