Personally, I'd rather see players just talking and/or taunting than high sticks and cross checks to the head. But that's just me.

The Russians should know better than to act the way they did tonight against Canada. They (not the exact same team)made the same type of gestures during the beginning of a 6 game tour of the CHL, but after a few games, they had their hats handed to them and smartened up.

I just lost all respect for him.

I was an Ovechkin fan, not so sure anymore after seeing him act like a complete punk. Wasn't much better through the whole tourney either. Didn't care for his crying about calls all tourney either. Let's go Canada!!! Give them the business!!!

I hope Canada doesn't get caught off guard. They should win this tourny but they havn't really been tested yet, especailly Glass. This Russian team, despite being arrogant and classless, they can really bring it and I hope Canada doesn't faulter early on. I hope Phaneuf rocks some of those guys to the ice...that'll show em.

Character. It's an interesting word and was on display by both teams tonight. Actually it was a lack of character being displayed. The Russians should be embarassed by their antics. The Americans should be embarassed by not taking the high road and showing that they are above the Russians. The end of that game was a black eye on the game IMO. The commentators didn't help much either.

To the Russian fans: you were the better team tonight, and I thought as much throughout the whole tournament. But I still think the taunting after empty net goals is really classless. I wouldn't be proud of it if Americans were doing it. I cannot see how some of you try to justify it.

Both teams showed poor sportsmanship. The Russians can celebrate, they sure as hell deserved it. A few players went over the edge, yes.

The Americans also showed little class bringing their sticks and fists up at the end. They had nothing to talk about, they got badly outplayed.

Good game tainted by bad sportsmanship by both teams. Other than the end, pretty entertaining game I thought.

I hope Canada watched that poor display of sportsmaship. Who knows maybe Ovechkin, Malkin, Shirikov, or the guy at the end of the bench talking trash will get Phaneufed. Typical Russian embarassments like a few years back when Svitov spat in a Canadians face. Just checking, but I don't remember seeing any American players celebrating infront of the Swedish bench when they were beating them handly.

Sweden and the US don't have any players that get double and triple teamed. When you slash, chop, hook, talk trash and triple team the best players in the tournament, then obviously they'll react by rubbing it in your face when they score showing that no matter what you do, you can't stop them....better revenge that way then by having more "physical" incidents like the Bertuzzi stuff....
