you're kinda like...the mosquito of this thread, hey?

I'm sorta trying to get the HF Gospel out of this thread. But it won't work. Never.

You think a team that was runner up 8 years ago, third place four years ago and fifth or sixth at the World Cup last year intimidates everyone?

Where I come from, people don't consider results like that very good at all.

Let the self-glorifying pumping up therapy begin :yo: :yo:

And where are they exactly now?

In their beds, having sleazy dreams about their girlfriends and wives waiting at home. :)

Daaaamn, what the hell am I talking about! :dunno:

I think Canada wins because they shouldn't, and that seems to be the way these elimination rounds work.
Russia has been at least as bad as Canada.

Lets see... only one medal in the last two NHLer Olympics (as compared to Russia's two) A single gold medal in Olympic hockey in over 50 years! I think also a win and runners up position at some North American lovefest tournament nobody really takes seriously or bothers to show up at. Hm....

Well, ppl do take it seriously, but of course, it's no Olympics :teach:

Whichever team gives up the initiative to the other tomorrow is toast, and one of them will. If Russia allows Canada to spend signigicant time in its zone, hitting, banging and cycling, we're done. We'll take a few penalties when we get lazy/tired, Canada will jam the net, get a few bounces, it will be too hard to come back.
On the other hand if Canada relents or we are disciplined enough and work hard enough in our zone, once our forwards hit their stride, Canadian D just cannot shut them down consistently.

There's really no middle ground, at least I don't see it. Russia and Canada have the only two forward corps whom nobody can really stop when they are operating at 100%. So whoever will be the aggressor tomorrow, will win, and probably win big. If both teams are on, it will be a titanic battle. Russia has more talent, if we can match Canada's work ethic tomorrow, we'll win.

Gotta stay out of the penalty box...

Do you actually consider what happened 8 years ago, never mind in the 42 years previous where NHLr's didnt play, means anything?
I hate to tell you sonny, but the only tourneys that mean anything is when the best are playing, ie the Oly's & World Cup. Its sad but true that the last 2 of these the Russians have been, shall we say, less than adequate in recent history.

Oh, I had some discussions with you already.

Do you actually think the Russians have played well?

IMO they played just OK. But "not well" not what you said. You said "just as bad a Canada". :shakehead

Krik also says that he rotated players on te PK today on purpose, "to give them some practice before tomorrow". Tomorrow, he goes, there will be the PK unit and the PK should be more effective than today

I don't see how you can think a 4-1 team hasn't played well.
I dunno. Canadas 3 & 2 & imo has been brutal. I also consider 1-0 win by Russia against Kazak more heinous than Canadas 2-0 loss to Switzerland.
No big deal, its all a matter of opinion.
