Is that you or a parody of you? I am too tired to know the difference.

im also v confuse

Also, I'm still stewing over last night's game. With a few exceptions, that was one of the laziest efforts I've ever seen out of this team, and I've seen a lot of lazy efforts over the years. I have a lot going on right now, and if that's the kind of effort we can expect to see out of this bunch, I don't have the time or patience to sit through that 3 times a week.

They lost almost every loose puck, had no answer for the forecheck, got pushed around all night, rarely established possession in Florida's end, made passes on par with those of the mighty mites at intermission, and looked every bit as lost in their own end as my winless beer league team.

There's no excuse. No ******* excuse.

i wonder how much of a let down the small crowd was for the team? gotta be hard mentally for them to play in front of an amped up, packed house on saturday and then have only family and friends show up last night.

I wonder how much of a let down the ****** team was for the crowd? gotta be hard mentally for them to watch them miss the playoffs for six straight years and still pay money to watch florida beat their ***** last night.

I'm really, really, *really* ****ing tired of hearing how hard it is for the players to play for small crowds. Put together a 3-game winning streak and the crowds will be there. Play anywhere close to .500 hockey and the crowds will be there.

If these ****ing knuckleheads play their way out of it in October, AGAIN, then they will have zero right to complain about playing in front of 10k crowds. This isn't Winnipeg, where they'll pack the house every night to watch a last place hockey team. Deal with it. Win some goddamned games.

Please don't. This board is challenging enough to wade through. I already have to hunt for actual hockey posts.

I get this team won't win 82 games, **** I get they likely won't win half. I can take a lose if they actually showed some effort. What I can't tolerate is watching what we saw last night. There was no effort. It was like they showed up, but just wanted to go home. You had a team that played the night before, you should have been the fresher team, but Florida looked to have way more energy. There is no excuse for this lackluster play so early in the season. I know all teams have a poopy game here and there, but it's way too early in the season for that, it was Game 3. You can't be that tired already.

Now they go off on a 7-game road trip facing damn good teams. I could definetly see another 0-fer October. I wasn't expecting a contender this year, but I was expecting them to be better than last year since the excuse last year was learning a new system and pre-season they actually looked decent. But we just may have a worst team.

This.

I don't care about the results during a rebuild (although some wins would be nice), but effort is non-negotiable. Last night was inexcusable.

I'm not sure I completely agree with you Rod. I do agree E. Staal looked better than many were giving him credit for, but I did not see the speed you speak of. Staal used to be able to beat guys to the puck in the neutral zone, used to be able to beat guys down the wing and use his shot. I didn't see either of those last night. He looked slow to me.

You're probably right. I had my buddy screaming in my ear "YOU ****ING BUM STAAL, BOTH OF YOU, ****ING BUMS" followed by a brief stint of "HEY YOU TRIED, GREAT WORK. YOU'RE ALL DOING A GREAT JOB OF TRYING" so I tried to find some good in what I was seeing. Might have tried a little too hard, there were just two instances where he flew by a couple defenders on the forecheck and I thought damn, haven't seen that in a while.

I'm certainly not happy with the results so far, and tonight was pretty bad, but I can't bring myself to get too upset yet. It's a bad start to the season, but to act like we have no future when all we've been doing the last year is stockpiling for the future seems odd. Worst case it continues and we gain more assets at the deadline and with another high pick. I'm not sure where the angst has come from after a lousy three game start when most realistically didn't expect a great year. The team even played decent in a couple of them, and stayed in a game pretty long where they played like hot garbage. It is frustrating to probably be on the way to sucking again like this, but we are letting a fair number of guys marinate in the minors and actually have a GM that seems to be dedicated to building the team smartly, but everyone loses their minds over a few games. To each their own I guess.

Not to mention that even though it's been a bad start for yet another season, it's really not impossible to overcome 3 losses either. Even after the awful start last year, the team went 5-0-1 to get back to one under .500 before losing 6 out of 7. There's no guarantee they're doomed by this start if they start stringing some positive things together.

I understand the frustration. But I for one still think there are some big picture things that have changed for this franchise that look positive. And I'm still not ready to give up on this season just yet.

I was told we were going to win the Cup this year! lies

I think im a certified masochist at this point. Every loss makes me a little more giddy. The harder the loss, the more I enjoy it.

Not meaning to overreact to 3 games, but starts like this are so hard to take year after year. They take the air out of your balloon before the parade even starts!

Well jeez, if all it takes is a fluke position after a month then last year is the only rough year we've had of the last few. We were in a playoff position on February 1st of 2014. 54 games into the season is pretty solid. Year before that we were in a playoff position 28 games into a 48 game season.

If you thought there was some kind of expectation the team would be good enough to at least be on the bubble, three games is nothing. They can turn that around. I wouldn't be surprised even if they lose a couple more if they crawl out of it a bit and get back to we're not that far out of it territory. Like I said before, they crawled out of a worse situation last year, and then they really fell apart. It's early enough in the season for that to happen. There are tons of teams that have had awful starts this year. A few of them with much bigger expectations than this crew. It's tough, and I hope we see more of the effort like Detroit or most of the games last year going forward if they aren't very good. Regardless, we'll either be competitive, or continuing ourselves on a great path for the future this year. Possibly really great depending on how some assets are handled.
