Who would've thought bringing a bunch of old guys that happened to play in the NHL at one point was NOT a good idea?

not sure why he was so invested into staal. He wasn’t even that good against China.

Slafkovsky> Owen Power. When Matthews, Hughes, Kakko and Tolvanen played the WC´s as young prospects I thought they made a much bigger impact than Power has done so far and the competition is not that much better.
In order of Development to NHL level

Wingers
Centres
D
Goalies

Slaf is playing wing here to my knowledge. I absolutely love Slaf but I'd take Power.

If this ever happens again(no NHL players) we need to go full on with our best junior aged players and add the odd veteran to lead the group. Not the other way around as we did here. Team was just entirely bankrupt of any level of skill.

No flippin way bro. Look at USA. Slovaks outplayed them the entire game. Bunch of kids (USA had 15 college players) also not a good idea.

Remember how Kakko>Hughes because of the world championships?

Got all of the QF predictions right. Group A was by far the weakest group of the tournament.
Crazy how it changed.. best on best that was 2 gold medal contenders.

I thought Group B was the toughest but Czechs flopped and Swiss and Danes were out in Quarters. Group C has 2 of the 4 teams in Semi's!

People still wondering why Adam tambellini is not in the nhl or with a nhl team?

nuff said. Didn’t look like a nhler at all. Not even close.

I would much rather go into it with a bunch of kids then a bunch of random ass over the hill grinders. If we go out in the quarters either way atleast the kids are getting experience and actually have game breaking skill.

The problem is Canada didn’t take skilled vets. I’m looking at the list of players playing in Europe and the CHL/NCAA and there are so many skilled guys they left at home. I don’t understand what they were going for in terms of roster construction

Maybe Julien had input on roster selection.

Well deserve loss. Played like shit. Team USA at least played good. Team canada played like shit.

team USA didn’t even play good, they spend 2/3rds of the game defending. They just got some chances off the rush. That’s it. USA looked really small

It helps to be on teams with some surrounding talent...

Congrats, Sweden! :handclap:

I think it's always cool seeing the underdogs do well in these tourneys.

sweden is a contender in this tourney…..

back to the game…

can’t blame julien. I’m sure he didn’t tell o dell to make a neutral zone drop pass.

Sweden always sets up before a breakout.

Canada on the other hand just panics and tries to flip it out panic mode.

sweden deserves to win this game.

OMG Canada is not the best hockey nation!!!! Eliminated in the quarters?!?!?! WTF!!!! Time for another Hockey Canada Summit. Ugghhh. So depressed

no team has ever won with a bunch kids, it’s an auto loss if we go with a bunch of kids, trust me.
How ?

Canada use to do that in previous Olympics. Never won a damn gold.
