I think Bernard and Wright should have been there. Yeah there young, but they are highly skilled AF
Do you feel they would've done better than McTavish and Power?

Those guys were globetrotting the Juniors for Canada.

Teens against Pro's doesn't work.

This team had 3 of the best teens with 3 players picked at 1Ov, 3OV and 5OV and they lost to an NCAA style US team.

sweden is a contender in this tourney…..

back to the game…

can’t blame julien. I’m sure he didn’t tell o dell to make a neutral zone drop pass.

Sweden always sets up before a breakout.

Canada on the other hand just panics and tries to flip it out panic mode.

sweden deserves to win this game.

No doubt, but I was thinking in the same vein as Germany four years ago.

Or Slovakia earlier today, lol

It’s entirely possible all 3 aren’t as good as advertised. There are some real concerns there. None of them showed any sort of dynamic ability or physical ability besides the fact that Power is really tall.

no team has ever won with a bunch kids, it’s an auto loss if we go with a bunch of kids, trust me.
How ?

Canada use to do that in previous Olympics. Never won a damn gold.
I mean we likely will never win an Olympics without NHL players. So I would rather give high skilled youngsters the experience and hand pick a few of the best veterans then go with the makeup we did this time. The result is likely the same either way but one is many times over more interesting to watch and might actually show some benefits for Canadian Hockey down the line.

Wasn't the US younger with more 19/20 year olds?

Teenagers against men. Amateurs against professionals.

When they played their peers at the Juniors they were head and shoulders above the comp from my view (as a Czech who watched them demolish us.lol).

That’s only a excuse up to a point. Beniers looked pretty skilled and dynamic, for example.

Why was Ho-Sang stapled to the bench the last two games? Why was Eric Staal allowed to lead all forwards in ice-time again?

The roster construction wasn't the best, but Julien was a terrible choice for head coach.
Yeah the entire tournament Staal was on the first line, despite the line never doing anything.. Julien instead of changing things up just kept giving Staal new wingers and hoped for the best.

I think Julien came into this tournament under the belief that 2007 Eric Staal was on his squad and was going to carry this group when he probably should’ve been on the third or fourth line.

Nah, i hope only the best for Sweden if it's not against Finland. Same thing with football, i supported Sweden in major tournaments because Finland wasn't there and Sweden is closest to us.
I support Finland in football too. Rarely Denmark. And I rarely support Norweigan skiiers. But I like Denmark and Norway in hockey. It’s about the history of the hockey rivarly for me (or football/skiing/Danish handball).

Powers has won a World Championship at the senior level already. I think he'll be fine. McTavish has already had a cup of coffee in NHL.

If either were an Oiler I'd be thrilled.

I just don’t think their top end is as high as advertised.

Definitely possible.. lots of examples of recent guys I thought would take off quicker

Kakko
Lafrieniere

Both looked ready to me. Men amongst boys.

I really like both MacT and Power though. Time will tell.. Power is in Buffalo so that won't help at all.
