Yeah, they probably aren't. But they should.

Ultimately, with the state of the NYI farm, we shouldn't be trading any picks. 2024 or 2025. There's no real way to know which is a good draft and which is a bad draft after the top handful of picks, they're generally crapshoots that you make educated guesses in. So we should be throwing darts in both drafts hoping some hit.

That's the complete opposite of what they should do.

The core is cooked and there's nothing in the farm. The only way forward is unfortunately through a long rebuild.

Keep the picks, and trade Nelson/Palmieri this summer for more picks. Tank for the 2025 draft.

its mostly suck, I tend to side that guys are trying to not suck I guess. The mistakes etc. are just not going to get out of this teams game in season. The roster needed cleansing, Sorokin needs a reset etc. and that’s only going to happen in off-season.

I think this is right. 9M might be a little steep but I think he would thrive as solid 1st line winger on a team where he didn't have to be the face. I think we can all admit at this point that he just isn't that guy. How does Bedard dishing to Barzy and vice versa sound? It's not like they don't have the cap space and lots of picks and prospects.

It just isn't a good idea. That stuff is just pumping air into tires that are about to pop to be able to try driving a few more miles.

Cizikas - 34
Lee - 34
Nelson - 33
Pageau - 32
Mayfield - 32
Pelech - 30
Pulock - 30
Varlamov - 36

They're getting to the age when decline is to be expected. And a lot of them weren't even good this season.

If you trade a first and second, you might be able to get rid of one of them. Or two at absolute most. But you can't replace most of them realistically.

Yes, I agree. Though I do think that it was a backhanded shot at Sorokin in a way, he doesn't want to completely lose the room either.
