I know this is slightly off topic from the game which was boring me so I turned it off just before the “comeback” that fell short, but what’s most amazing this season is the suckage in the eastern conference! How do the Isles have this season and this level of play and still remain 3 points out of a playoff spot and also be 3 points from the bottom of the heap?

It's not off topic at all. Lou is no doubt looking at those same numbers and is putting together his wish list for a playoff push.

The mind boggles.

From the coach that didn’t have the mental capacity to know improving the PK should’ve been of paramount importance this off-season.

At least he’s actually upset after this game compared to the 7-1 Buffalo shit kicking. Didn’t wanna hear the usual toxic positivity BS from our guys

Well he understands it. The team shouldn’t be mentally strong for the last 6 minutes of a game only. At least it’s a start compared to being mentally weak throughout the entire 3rd period.

I hope the team is understanding what is possible when they have a will to win. They almost pulled it off. But it was a little too late. Haven’t seen such a drive in this team for years now. As Roy said “With seven minutes
, we pull the goalie, we score one, five minutes, we score another. You could come back in those games. And sometimes, I feel we don’t believe enough in that.” Yep. That’s it exactly the team has lacked confidence for years because they were treated like chess pieces on a chessboard.

Regardless they actually tried to play to win at the end of the game with encouragement from Roy. They should build on this. Baby steps. Now try to be mentally strong for at least the second half of the third period.

There was so much wrong with the team’s approach to the game that I don’t think he had much time to worry about anything else including special teams. The team on a fundamental level was just thinking the game absolutely the wrong way from past coaching experiences. Roy’s got a lot on his plate, but I appreciate the energy behind the bench, the constant teaching, the constant coaching. He’s active behind the bench unlike Lambert who would just be glaring at the ice scratching his head. This is what it will take to turn this team around. It will be painful to watch and all those injuries to start the season makes it even more painful because losses due to manpower injuries only makes things worse.

Ct.
When a team no longer believes they can get it done, it kills them like cancer.
I think we are beyond that when it comes to PP and PK.
Some groups just need to be broken up, this club is one of them...
Seen this before.
Should we let them fail badly to get a lottery ball (Embarrassing it will be) or should we sell which will insure we get a lottery ball?
I'm for the Sell

C'mon. It usually is a recipe for disaster.
This team is so frustrating.
They showed nothing for almost entire game and then pushed when it was too late.
And again the PK sucked.
Starting to think Roy might not be the guy. Why continue to trot out JGP and Holmstrom. They have been awful.

Team is just not ready to play most nights.

Dobson continues to be a disaster. Everyone sees it. He never seems to get benched.

What is Mat Barzal worth? These two players are major problems.

System stuff is all bad.

It’s sad because at times it appears like this losing mentality is unshakable with this team. I believe there is enough talent on this team to make at least another deep run but with each passing game their confidence starts to wane. Roy has got his work cut out for himself.

Fasching has 15 games with 0 points. Trevor Gillies had 14 games his rookie year with one assist. I’ll take Gillies. And Haley over McLean.

These guys aren’t even in the A anymore.
Roy can't get past his Engvall hate. Fasching is useless. Either play the other guy or dress a7th defenseman. Someone who could kill a penalty.

The last thing this organization needs is for Lamiorello to make Roy a convenient fall guy for all that has happened the past 5 years. Because that means Roy goes and Lamiorello stays to bungle another critical decision. This team did not have a PP to speak of for 6 years. Remember when Scott Gomez was brought in to try to fix it? When you have a team that did not practice the PP for 6 years because such practice requires creativity and a relaxed playing style which fundamentally went against a structured low scoring defense first system it’s going to struggle regardless of who’s behind the bench. But getting a team to understand that they are no longer leashed and can play confidently and relaxed during the PP is all about changing the teams mental approach to the game.

Engvall’s don’t hit don’t get hit approach to the game is nauseating. Good riddance.

I don't understand why we can't try guys like Foudy, Gatcomb on the 4th line. Kuefler has an edge, stats aren't their but he's a grinder, would even give him a shot for a few games.

I would love to bring up Jefferies, but only if he played on the 3rd line. Putting him on the 4th for 8 minutes will not help him develop.

There is nowhere near enough talent on this team for a deep run. Part of the problem’s mental for sure, but the major part is physical - this team is slow and is not crisp on passes - giving or receiving. it’s why the PP and PK are so bad. Coaches that lay all the blame on mentality are just trying to cover up, or are in denial about, the inferior physical ability of the individuals on their team.

6 games since the return of $9M man and he’s rocking a single (empty netter) and an assist. And the team is 2-4. Hopefully, he gets his timing back soon. Yawn.
