Definitely stole a point in that one - Oilers dominated pretty much the entire game. That said, there were a lot of ghastly turnovers and really poor puck plays that were unusual even for this team - I don't expect to see that every night. I hope they're able to clean it up for the next few games
He’s doing us a favor and lowering his next contract
he really is pissing away a lot of money

Hindsight... maybe George should have been out in OT. Skating is his game, right?

No 2nd guessing Roy, because he chose Pulock, who is probably our best Dman right now, and with experience.

I think this highlights the fact that we need a more mobile defence corps.

Gotta possess the puck in O.T.
We did not do much of that without giving it back....
Stole a point.
Thank You Ilya...

If you all spent more time watching the game and less time on here you might actually see the game in a different way.
Apologies for having to try to watch while doing a full-time courseload of schoolwork because I also work a full-time job so I can’t do it during the day. So maybe mind your own f***ing business?

Also, outside of getting the player wrong, what about that play wasn’t stupid, praytell?

It would be a lot livelier if people didn't post negatively 90% of the time. It's gotten tiring to posters like me who don't see a loss as the end of the world. Many long-time posters are just messaging each other instead of commenting here. If I want constant negativity, I'll watch MSNBC.
Are the long time posters in the room with us right now?

Seriously, nobody here is upset at any individual loss - the lack of posters is due in part to our small fanbase, in part to HFBoards’ gradual death to new media, and then thirdly the dark long term outlook for the team with Lou at the helm.

It’s not due to… negative posters.

Go look at the Rangers post game thread from last night. There are a surprising number of fans over there clamoring for a retool/rebuild. There’s rampant negativity for an actual winning team.

I’ve said it before, Islanders fans are overwhelmingly positive relative to other fanbases - we are much more likely to welcome and accept mediocrity.

Seriously? Accept mediocrity? I was a fan in the first year, a fan during the Cup years, a fan during the awful aftermath and a fan now (66 years old).

It's called being a FAN, not accepting mediocrity. You take the good with the bad and when the good returns, it makes it all the better.

Look at what it is like to be a Canadians fan, as an example. Tremendous accomplishments and without a Cup in decades. Toronto fans haven't had what we had in SIX DECADES. Red Wing fans?

To paraphrase Herb Brooks, I root for the name on the front of the jersey, not how they play from game to game, year to year. I root for the team and that won't change until I'm buried.

Debate all you want, but winning and losing comes and goes in cycles. It's the ride that I love. There's no conditions placed on my loyalty.

It's not about winning and losing; it's about the team's outlook. Fans can be optimistic about a losing team when said team is trending in the right direction. However, people will not be positive when the team is managed poorly and has been trending in a negative direction for years. This is significantly amplified when the team has no concrete direction for the future.

In my case, it is. Granted, I don't really have a rosy outlook for this team, but my god, people just pile the f*** on here....

I'll take a moment away from my hiatus and say I haven't made any meaningful contribution on the Isles section in months for exactly this reason, I make the GDTs and that's pretty much it.

Very few of the people on here actually want to actually talk about hockey. The few who try to engage in that discourse are just piled on for "not getting it" ad nauseam. We're a small fan base for sure and our section has always been small but there are some who have made it so unenjoyable to be on here that even I don't care to post much.

What's the point?

If the Islanders win that's bad because they're not winning anyway.
If they lose that's bad because they're not winning.
If they win that's bad because they'll get a worse draft pick.
If they lose that's bad because management won't draft properly.
If they win that's bad because management won't make changes.
If they lose that's bad because management won't make changes because reasons.
Ownership.

People stay on message boards as long as they're fun for them, if they're not fun then people stop using them. I don't mean optimistic or happy, but it needs to provide some value for people. Right now we're pretty barren in that department, at least for me.
