I still think Sweden are the better team. Should go further in the tournament. Especially if Granlund gets a four game suspension or something like that.

I enjoyed the match from start to finish, I just confirmed that Finland has been a mentally strong team for several years in a row and it is never worth underestimating it. Maybe if Sweden had more better offensive players, they could have added a fourth goal and won the match. But even so, Garpenlöv has already broken his Riga record, so Sweden will play another match and fly home, which I expected before the start of the tournament. An unforgettable tournament.

Holy. Moly.

What a game. Finland clearly snapped in the 2nd. No comment on whether it was a justfied feeling or not (at least not without watching all the replays), but they clearly felt that there were two teams they were playing against - one wearing yellow, another wearing black and white. They were so frustrated. And then in 20+ minutes of hockey, they claw back from a 0-3 deficit to win the game.

If Finland goes on to win the tournament, this was the culmination point. The mental boost they got here was massive. They were shattered - and reforged anew, stronger than before. Now, there's still a lot of hockey to be played and they may run into a side that wins by scoring more, but after this there will be no situation in which they will lose faith that they can do it.

I wouldn't draw too many conclusions from this game. Sweden still is very much one of the favorites to win Gold. Especially since as i haven't been too impressed with team Russia's KHL players this tournament..

I think that it is very good analysis from the analysts in Finnish television broadcast. When the team that has been underdogging starts a very strong comeback, the formerly leading team gypsums and is starting to fear the lose! This is where our brave and strong Finnish Lions capitalised and gained confidence to mount a great wictory!

Even as a Swede I hope Finland have an extra gear to put in. We already knew Swedens chance at gold died when Garpen took over. And the team he choose is questionable at best.
So my hopes have been with Finland even before the tourney. Partly due to Finland honestly deserve their first gold medal but mostly due to the 'old boys club' in swedish hockey need a lesson and hopefully look at our brothers to the east and learn.

And I also really want to see Mikko Manner win.

Once again proving Jalonen deserve a shot in the NHL but sadly won't get it. Then you see tire fires like Edmonton appointing former video guy as a coach.

Hyvä Leijonat!

Listen to me for once you peasants!!!

I have written this to every single game thread. Slovakia, Latvia, Sweden or Uzbekistan can press and grind like 4th line and cause Finland to off balance.

Finland plays all the time their own game, this skill and tactic will always outscore these grinders in the long run. This happened again.

Sweden = not skilled grinders
Finland = skill
No agreeing at all. The Swedish "grinders" are equally skilled. Its about special teams, momentum and coaching and most of all LUCK. The team with most of that in the playoffs will win the olympics

What? Finland is the last team to support if Sweden go out. Support every team that plays Finland, in every game, without exception. Never understood the ”support your neighbours” thing. Are you happy when Norway win gold in skiing? Of course not. It’s awful. Always root against your biggest rival. I can support Finland in football and Norway/Denmark in hockey though.

Ooh don't be so salty :( it's a good statement, but it's good to understand that there is only one swedish center that would fit to Finnish A team and even he is FINNISH (Ziba):laugh::laugh:
Bäckström disrespect. Lindholm and Pettersson would make it too, maybe one of them on the wing. And obviously no finnish defencemen would make team Sweden.

Finland also holding back the KHL's best goal scorer so not optimal lineup for them either.

No, he's not a favorite for gold. You know why? Because this Swedish team has very few individual qualities to play the classic Swedish game when leading by 1-2 goals. That is, far from his goal, rather in the middle zone and with pressure on the opponent. I didn't see any of it in the third period today. This team just doesn't have these attributes, it's vulnerable and opponents see it and know about it. With Garpenlöv as coach there will be no improvement, even Grönborg was at a much better level in this. But now important for Sweden is that the new coach will be Hallam and I believe that this collapse would not occur under him, he is just hoping that it will be better, because Swedish hockey has been suffering for a long time by choosing regularly. clown on a bench.

I agree that all of that plays a big role, but people were calling Finland win even though 3-0 down, i also knew that it'll be tight even though it looked horrendeous for finns.

Why? Because Finland team is more skilled. Sweden could've won that game too fair enough, but usually skill comes at the top eventually. Sweden tactics was to cause mayhem and disturb Finland for playing their own game.

You see even Garpenlöv knew that they can't challenge Finland in their own game (keeping the puck and controlling it). That's why they played like a wrecking ball.
