I’m over this coaching staff. They either coach them to not play a full 60/play prevent in the final frame or they just cannot motivate the team to actually play for 3 periods.

Gave away a point in this game and against Detroit. Should have been 2 regulation wins

Lane Lambert f***ing sucks

thats it. This is a game that saw him not only get outmatched, but he got rawdogged by Brind'amour. You could literally tell that Lambert was clueless like a f***ing dumbass on the job. Thats him. He is so stupid as a coach. Oh whats that? protect the puck when you're up 3-0? LOL NOPE JUST LET THE CANES KEEP HOUNDING TO TIE AND WIN. JUST BENCH ONE OF YOUR DEFENSEMAN AND FORCE DOBSON AND PULOCK TO MOVE HEAVEN AND EARTH. OVER 100+ SHOT ATTEMPTS GIVEN UP.

Absolutely awful. And to those damn canes also. I hate playing that stupid team from Raleigh. I hate every single player of theirs. This was an EXACT re-run of the Capitals game last year where GUESS WHO, ORLOV scores and makes them win. f*** him. And f*** Lamoriello for not going after Orlov or DeAngelo or any defenseman who makes this team better. You want to win a cup Lamoriello? make a trade, or else it might be the nursing home in a few more weeks. The same applies to Lame, Houda and McLean who might be on the pickett line for work.

The good:

-Dobson a stud
-Barzal/Horvat great duo
-Romanov is steady back there
-lines 2/3

The Bad
-LANE LAMBERT
-Anders Lee a BLACK HOLE. He is brutal.
-Team Defense is not great right now. Losing guys in the defensive zone at an alarming rate.

Can’t blame Sorokin for tonight. Could’ve had OT goal but others no chance on. Redirected pucks and a guy all alone in front of the net. I would for sure play Varly on Tuesday tho. Let’s see if he can stay hot and roll with him. Team should be 7-2-1 at the very least. 5-2-3 isn’t bad collecting points but just frustrating man…this is a good team, gotta clean things up.

thats what a GOOD team would've done, but NOPE. the isles gotta keep playing with their food and give up easy chance after easy chance. AND THEY KEEP DOING IT TO SOROKIN. If I'm Ilya, I should threaten to beat the living shit out of the team if they make him face over 35+ shots a night, and i'm calling Lamoriello to go trade for Hanifin the first thing in the god damn morning. If you want to win a cup, you better play like a god damn cup contender and not some lazy crap like this that gets beaten by a team thats without Pesce for f***s sake. This loss just leaves me completely angry. There isn't a way to describe my blood pressure, because this is one of the worst losses in recent memory. This beats the 8-0 asskicking from Tampa, the 8-3 asskicking from Nashville where they scored seven straight and the islanders just forgot how to play any defense, and the 4-1 blown lead from Toews doing a dirty bird to Kuzy.

If you want to win the cup and make the playoffs, YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME. The Islanders don't. The islanders are the lazy dumbass kid who doesn't know how to tie his shoe after spending 8 years in college on a degree for engineering. All this talent and skill, and they forgot the defense. But hey at least we still remember the 80's right? always gotta show the 80's. Hey f***ing dumbasses, maybe make new memories for islanders fans who didn't worry about a nuclear bomb going off for f***s sake. I am so tired of their laziness and inability to get key pieces. They got Horvat. Cool. Bo Horvat doesn't stop the Canes and Avalanche and Devils from playing all over the place and shooting over 40 shots on Sorokin who hasn't strangled the coach yet for how stupid his defensive scheme is.

They're gonna get decimated by the Wild. The Wild came back from 3-0 down also. They forecheck like crazy. They will REFUSE to stop hounding the puck. Lame Lambert won't do f***ing shit though. He'll just look around and do the same stupid faces and sit on his ass as always.
 
Wasn’t able to watch tonight, but let me guess, they got a 3 nothing lead and went into a defensive shell, which never works and always ends with blown leads?
 
I’ve said it before and I’m not sure if it’s been mentioned, but if Bolduc cannot take a steady shift Lou has to make a move. Him playing less than 10 minutes a game is not sustainable.

I wonder what was said between the second and third periods bc this team looked completely different. At this point I’m leading towards the coaches being the problem. I just don’t get how they can play so well for two periods and play like that in the third.

Also can this team please stop taking penalties? So sloppy

Absolutely terrible last two periods. They way there hemmed in and outplayed is just unacceptable. How lambert can let this go on and not change anything is just beyond me.

Ya I get it but that old man is the only guy out there that's decent as of now that won't get out coached. Look at Calgary now, it's a disaster there.

The roster is good to great its 100% the coaching.

Barzal was the only player that could get the puck out of their zone that second half. Carolina withheld their forecheck on him because of his skating. Everyone else they forechecked into submission. The game was exactly like last year’s final playoff game.
 
Why do we even bother to show up for OT. It’s always disaster at 3 on 3.

Coaching was poor in the third. You have to keep attacking. Turtling up is an awful strategy. It’s not only coaching though. Carolina’s “A” game is just well beyond what this group is capable of right now. Bummer it ended this way because there was a lot to like in the first two periods.

At times this team looks like they've never played together before.
That blame falls on Lambert.
In his first year you cut him some slack, but not in his second.
Trotz was bend don't break.
Lane is bend and then explode in a thousand pieces.

Somehow I have more emotion than the coach and players too busy laughing and doing nothing to prevent the canes from having 100+ scoring chances. Everything is fiiiiiiiiine in islander land. Just ignore every home game so far, and just look at the 5-2-3 record! its so misleading. Games like this, I would've been so pissed off at my team if i'm the coach. They didn't do a thing to counter Carolina. They sat back and let themselves lose. This should've been a regulation loss. Now I have to hear how "good" the Canes are as well, even though that stupid redneck hill billy team should be relocated and sent to a real hockey market.
 
Oh and Lame Lambert just doing nothing and just making faces? Great job! Totally doesn't make me feel worse when he's sitting on a time out all third period and doesn't take a chance to slow the game down after Orlov's goal. Pathetic. He literally just did the Capitals game all over again. Out coached, out checked, and out maneuvered in a game where they SHOULD have won.
 
And lets be honest about another thing. People like to rag on Palmieri, Barzal, Horvat, Pageau for how much they make, but the only true crippling contract on this team right now is Anders Lee. The fact that this guy makes 7 million is a crime. When you think about the kind of top line offensive player you could have for that money is depressing.

Being outchanced as badly as they were, they really had no business winning that game and ever being up 3-0.
