Dubas dubassed himself out of a job by trying to squeeze his boss out of the picture. Attacking your boss is a play you make only when you know you have a great backup plan. I don't believe it had anything to do with performance or consequences of futility. And I don't take it as any sign that meaningful changes are coming soon.

I’m actually on an incredible five plus year streak of watching NHL hockey every night there’s a game on and I plan on keeping the streak alive.

The Leafs haven’t been overly entertaining to watch in a long time, maybe stagnant is a better word, but I’ll still watch most of their games.

Depends if the three amigos are still around.

It's proven they don't get it done when it counts, so why keep them around? It'll be the same damn thing next year if Treliving doesn't make substantial changes. Leafs playoff hockey sure isn't as exciting as it was.

I don't watch nearly as many games anymore and right now, with the way things are, I have no interest in investing time watching this group. I'll find other entertainment
Soft, entitled, regular season dynamos who don't seem to take any responsibility for their own lacklustre playoffs
Not a likeable team right now. I had hope when Dubas left, but that has gone out the window - for now
I watched every game like usual but last year was the first year in decades that I found myself doing other things while the game was on, mind was wandering etc. I actually dont really find their style that entertaining considering the skill of a few players. Possession low event hockey without the crashing and banging...meh

I wouldnt allow myself to have hope during the first round of the playoffs and even though I didnt think they deserved to win I was happy for it and looked forward with anticipation with a little bit of hope leading into the 2nd round only to be kicked in the nuts once again. The team player after season presser irked me and spoke volumes . Only Oreilly and Reilly really showed any kind of response that I would expect. Muskoka 5 vibes for the rest.

So in my mind I dont see myself watching or caring as much if things stay stagnant but who knows....maybe they change up the fringes in a way that captures my attention or the team philosophy changes and they start playing like a real team that doesnt allow themselves or their linemates to be tossed around without a response. If we get more of the exact same kind of brand that we have seen already I will more than likely lose more interest. Gone are the days where they are the only game I can watch.

It was inspirational to watch Rielly play so well in the playoffs. I also liked Schenn and O'Rielly.

Deep down I wish there was more inspiration. MM, AM, and WN will have decent seasons as the team sleep walks to the playoffs once more. Then once the playoffs come they will likely wilt.

JT is fairly talented, but his game/leadership/personality does not inspire anyone.

This is the most excited I have been to see what happens next since the disappoint that began May 11, 2018.

I always get NHL Centre Ice so I watch 100's of games a year above and beyond all Leaf games. Even if I can't watch all Leaf games in real time I PVR everything and still watch them.

Last year however once the Leafs had essentially clinched a playoff spot and it was known TB was the opponent I would sometime prioritize some prime time shows first and then watch the Leafs game at the end of my evening.

My loyalty is the the crest on the front and not the names on the back as a diehard Leaf fan spanning 6 decades now but my interest is tied to the Teams ability to win and the style of play..

First from day #1, I didn't believe you can build and Cup winning team in a Salary Cap Era havimg 3 players making $11 mil and among the highest priced in the game. So I know I'm cheering for victory in a setup I believe can't win. Its a kin to reading the last few pages of a book and knowing the ending and then reading the earlier pages to know how you get to failure again and again.

Secondly I like old time hockey of big, physical, hard hitting and for the past many years the Leafs style of play closer to a fast figure skating team so I get bored watching my team. The only time in the entire Dubas Era there was any such hope was TDL of 2023 until end of this season.

My renewed excitement comes from the GM change because Treliving likes tough physical hockey and you can see that in some of his past draft picks Matthew Tkachuk and Sam Bennett.

This is the least I've watched since I was a young fan back in 1970. I just don't find this team entertaining at all. Losing 20 games to bottom feeders makes it impossible for me to get emotional anymore. I don't like pond hockey......period. I like a hard nose brand of hockey and this team the last 5 years is not it. For me it's record the game and watch it in 1 hour skipping through all the redundancy. One big highlight reel ha ha.

First time in my life I didn't watch the Stanley Cup. I was too embarrassed for the Leafs.
Vegas 6 years in 2 Stanley Cup appearances multiple round won and an actual Cup.
Leafs no appearance in 56 years so of course no cups.

These players want raises??? Ha, enjoy this boys and girls. Is there an odds in Vegas of who won't win the cup? I would easily lay down $1000 to win $100 but I bet you would have to lay $10,000 to win that $100.
They always place TO as one if the favorites to take the easy money from fools . Lol

Looking at the Leafs from a superficial, casual fan perspective (for a moment) the team has focused so hard on their internal belief that they are a team of destiny that they've overlooked a couple of things over the years.

A hockey team is an entertainment product first and foremost. And while the skill level is higher than it's ever been in the modern era, and you can count on a strong 82 game product every year... the product is also... stale.

Change for the sake of change is not a good. But no change for the sake of no change can also result a lack of narrative focuses, lack of new blood in the star player category. No reason to buy new jerseys, to learn about new Leaf greats.

The forward focus of the team is also boring because you don't have superstar level players in net or on defense to cheer for. You don't have an lock it down stud defenseman. You don't have a stand on his head star goalie. The emotion level of the team is at a cruise control level so the team never matches your emotional investment.

It's just very repetitive and lacks variety as entertainment.

Unless there are some big adds to the roster that change the composition I think I catch Saturday games but mostly tune out until the playoffs.

We know they can get 100 points in the regular season, show me some playoff heart before I invest anything here

Each successive regular season becomes more meaningless than the last, as the playoffs overshadow any success and we are left to wonder if it will translate.

I am back to where I was before the rebuild, I have no expectations in the playoffs. but just watching hockey for the love of the game.

I'm an old school die-hard, so I don't miss a game and am rabid in my love for this team and hatred of all others.

...that being said, last year was a slog at times (which I don't recall feeling before, even in the worst years). I think it was a combination of the inevitability of the first round opponent by December, the fact that there was so little to prove in the regular season, and the pending doom of inevitable disappointment that is the playoffs.

Looking forward to October though! Go Leafs Go!!

Since i became a fan: My engagment/exictement/consumption of the leafs

2010-2011: 9/10 (caught 90% of games)
2011-2012: 10/10 (missed maybe 2 games all year)
2012-2013: 10/10 (Peak Fandom was this year until 10 mins left in 3rd of game 7)
2013-2014: 9/10 (watched 90% of games)
2014-2015: 7.5/10 (watched 60 games this year)
2015-2016: 9/10 (watched the tank religiously)
2016-2017: 10/10 (second peak year. Second most excited Ive been as a fan)
2017-2018: 10/10 (watched almost every game, super hyped)
2018-2019: 9/10 (watched 90% of games passionately)
2019-2020: 7/10 (watched 70% of games, terrible year, pissed at kadri deal)
2020-2021:9/10 (watched 90% of games, and the habs series loss was the toughest for me in AM34 era. It broke me)
2021-2022: 5/10 (watched half the reg season and just losley watched playoffs)
2022-2023: 2/10 (watched 15-20 games this year and then saw the playoffs)

2023-2024: 4/10

Going to watch more than 2023 but not excited about same team, core, coach etc

2013 & 2017 my two favourite years as a leaf fan.

Both years had a lot of young promising talent

2013: Rielly coming in soon, Gardiner breaking in the playoffs, Franson with a great season, Frattin looking like a stud, Kadri looking amazing, Reimer looking like a stud

2017: Matthews, Marner, Nylander, Brown, Hyman, Kapanen, Sosh

Will see at the start of the season

Right now it's same the same interest I've had over the last few years because the team is pretty much the same - not much interest

Leafs are like lottery tickets, you buy and watch for the fun of it.
If they happen to win...that would be great.

I’ll watch most games with my wife. We enjoy it, the team puts on a great show. We will occasionally scream at the refereeing and generally marvel at the top 3s skill. Its a great product and great entertainment.

Agree with you. Also, JT is probably the most boring Captain in Leafs history. I don't even see passion out of him for a guy that wore the PJs

Treliving needs to prove it isn’t about the core 4, then maybe I’ll care.
So far the talk is about signing Mathew’s and Nylander, the NMC kicking in, Marner’s next contract and JT not waiving.
Add to that we are constantly trying to build a team of UFAs around a core not getting it done, sure seems like it’s all about 4.

Are you excited for the draft? What picks?
Are you excited for trades? What trades, there’s nobody if relevance to trade.
Core 4. Same as always.
