This is such crap. There's been lots of leaks from the flames.

Do us a favour and name said leaks with a definitive source from this management group; if you want to make the accusation do the work. :) We'll be waiting.

I've personally heard them, there are others on other boards that get stuff too. Believe me or not, I knew his ask was big (8+) before it was reported.

You can't be so naive to think all the media reports are only from JG side? I'm not a flames fan, and I don't have any other inside news on anything else either.

So many leaks, and you've personally heard them, but virtually none of it was inside news?

It doesn't take a genius to figure out that Gaudreau's camp would use comparable contracts (aka Tarasenko) as an anchor point for his salary ceiling. That's not inside news, that's logic.

In other words, my uncle's best friend's twice-removed cousin's stepmother's boss' dog-walker's African grey parrot who repeats everything he says has more verified sources.

Got it.

What are the chances of an offer sheet from another team?

Gaudreau hasn't played 3 years and is what they call a 10.2 c) player, so he can technically not be offer sheeted by another team. CBA is complicated but thats the gist of it

Hypothetically though...given that even Yak got a conditional 3rd and his stock has really tanked. I wonder what JG could get in a trade.

Value wise pretty much anyone bar a few players. Straight up think Ekblad, MacKinnon, Barkov etc(not saying any of these teams would do those trades).

For a package he would get a kings ransom. Philly for example would have to cough up something like Provorov + Schenn.

Would be a hard player to trade because of the value IMO.

I'd imagine someone with a young star player that they have more than one of would be willing....maybe?

I mean for example Buffalo has Eichel and Reinhart so it'd be a scenario where someone has multiple young guys that they could move one of for a young winger?

Yeah that's the sort of situation where it could be a fit. Problem is most of the teams who are stacked he wouldn't go to. Jets, Oilers and Yotes all have the pieces to get it done but he wouldn't be keen on going there.

The teams I assume he would like(Boston, Philly, Isles, NJ etc) don't really have the depth. Philly maybe. Do they trade Provorov though? Very little chance IMO.

0 chance he moves to Peg. Doubt they can afford to sign him, too. Flames don't need D chasing big $$ either.

Fair-ish value though. Flames would probably ask for Laine though.

Well guys you know the saying.

"Wish in one hand, S___ in the other"

In other words please just stop with these remarks every second day.

Why? It's a discussion board. 3 sleeps from season opener and he has no contract, played in zero pre-season games, and hasn't practiced. It's perfectly normal for fans of every market to dream up a trade scenario. At this point a trade is just as likely as a deal. Although the Flames would really have to be blown away with an offer to trade his rights. More so than what most people here are suggesting.

I'm pretty confident a deal gets signed by Wednesday, but until then, people are going to speculate packages of what it takes to get his rights.

These types of negotiations never end well. A contract may get signed but the vast majority of players that hold out or go to arbitration get traded within a few years. The relationship between them, the GM and the owner gets sour.

If Calgary were looking to actually move him, what is their biggest needs to try and fill in a trade. Just curious at what calgarys biggest holes are right now.

Yak is garbage, what does that have anything to do with Gaudreau's value?

No, the Flames need an offense generator back and I dont think Ehlers is that capable

Trouba is a nice piece but they can live without him

Zero chance Treliving would trade the Franchise's #1 revenue generating player. Anyone who thinks so is incredibly naive. Johnny Gaudreau's value is worth more than just what he does on the ice which is already incredible. His popularity, his merchandise sales and his ability to put butts in seats relative to the rest of team is not even close.

If you guys think for a second that Treliving and the ownership group doesn't know or understand this, then you guys are lost in my opinion. The NHL is a business first and the Flames ownership group will not be throwing away their biggest cash cow. The Flames know what Gaudreau is really worth and his worth is definitely more than what he'll be signing for.

This is strictly a GM right now who wants to utilize the rare bargaining power that he has over a player with as little of RFA rights that he has. Treliving understands market value. Heck, he paid Monahan more than fair market value. The contract will get done and Johnny Gaudreau will remain a Flame for a long time.
