It was already posted by @Eberzal in a different thread, but I thought it should also be here. For anyone who would rather blame Tavares, Eberle or injuries for this season, just read that.

It's all on the genius named Garth Snow.

or the Captain who only seems to score if we are least needing a goal and seemed to turn into a different player (for the worse) after December when it looked like the Islanders were going to get in the playoffs

Wait, now you're saying that Tavares deliberately isn't playing well, because the Isles were in a position to get into the playoffs? WTF?

I have said that all year, maybe turning his game down a notch because the though of him leaving a playoff bound team would not sit with Isles fans, now that the Islanders are out of the playoffs and almost at a dead end you are seeing alot of Islander fans almost encouraging Tavares to leave for his sake

and I have said for a long time Tavares had no intention of re-signing here and is just trying to leave on the best terms possible

I refuse to take anyone who mentions Tavares serious right now.

The one and only thing that matters is cleaning house upstairs and behind the bench.

And he would care about the fans because..? Btw, leaving on the best terms possible would mean being traded. Then he could just look at us and say: "hey, it wasn't my decision" and we could hate the front office. Which we do already, so nothing would've changed.

That's utterly ridiculous

Thank you for saying that for me.

He read the billboard and curled up into a fetal position.

Lombardi and Sutter, Lou, Quennville. There was an article in The Athletic saying that Brodeur might be the next Yzerman.
Read that article. Two things - Brodeur was one of my favorite all time NHL players, so I’d welcome him with open arms. Two, he’s a goalie, and we’ve seen what a goalie does as GM, so........

Not quite sure what to think of Marty as GM.

Can’t be worse than Snow.

Here’s the problem with sports executives: you either choose from the recycled candidates that play musical chairs every year, or you pick someone who’s unproven. If you pick someone unproven they NEED to have a short leash or you end up with Snow.

.

how would he get traded? only way he is getting traded is if he announced he was not going to re-sign, than he would be seen as a bad guy

and why wouldn't he care about the fans? he has been our hero here for the last 9 years, most Islanders Jerseys have his name on the back, I am pretty sure he is not interested in leaving here on a bad term

But would he really be seen as bad? I think most of the fans would understand his reasons for leaving. Also, now is the best time to leave, with Barzal as the shiny new toy. Also, getting traded would actually give the team something in return (and as we've seen this trade deadline, the prices were astronomical, so the Isles would get a good haul for him even as a rental), which would lessen the hit of him leaving.

The same fans that call him slow, not good enough and basically want him gone? Yeah sure, I bet he really cares about them.

How about someone who has served an apprenticeship? Learned how to scout, negotiate contracts, assemble a team? Preferably in a winning environment. Maybe even started in juniors or minors and worked his way up.
Completely unlike Snow

Not the case. You can pick a proven person on lower levels. Snow was literally our backup goaltender when he was hired (his cap hit was in affect when he was GM lol)...come on. Why not make the hotdog guy in the stands the equipment manager? Halak the next GM?

I am just afraid of Garth sticking around until free agency and him re-signing the guys he needs to let walk. It wouldn't what new players he would sign, just guys like Hickey, Nelson, Halak I am worried he gives one of them an extension. The Ladd, Clutterbuck and Greiss contracts are killer. To be honest we don't need Davidson. Toews, Pelech, Mayfield, Aho and potentially Vande Sompel or Wotherspoon can do his job. Wagner can walk to. Ross Johnston can be the new cheap clutterbuck.
