The PP isn't going to magically fix itself, even with a new coach. They need a shooter there. Any RHS trigger man in the mold of Ovie, Stamkos etc. It's crazy that it could actually be Stammer, but I'd take a 2nd rate version like Laine. Reinhart is the dream but no long term UFA deals means thats not happening. Anyone think Boeser is still available?
Couldn't be any worse.

The bar is so low that a two year old could step over it.

Seeing what Guentzel's camp is doing to Carolina, callin BS on their whole being mad about being traded thing
Guentzel’s agent and dad told him to say that to save face. He didn’t want to re-sign in Pittsburgh. Which is fine, I don’t blame him, he should spend the remainder of his prime on a contending team and not a rebuilding one. But this whole “poor Jake wanted to stay and Dubas didn’t want him” has been a load of crap.

That’s what it looks like to me.

By the time the Pens made it clear they suck last year Dubas:

1. Traded Nylander/6th in 2026 for
Bemstrom
2. Signed Puljujarvi to try out
3. Traded Guentzel for a roster player, 2nd and three prospects.
4. Tried to trade Smith/Jarry

5. Acquired a 2nd with Hayes

Pattern/direction is clear. Remodel the house without tearing out the foundation by making low risk moves/adding futures. Nothing bipolar about it.

There's nothing wrong with Bunting. Why do we still have him? He's worth a solid at retention. They didn't make that trade with some wild foresight - the return would have been outstanding a year prior. No way the return on Jake last Summer was less than what it was at the deadline. Regardless, though - that's not the height of the criticism here.

They tried to trade Smith / Jarry? Because outside of wild speculation that seems absolutely false. It's been a year since he signed Jarry in the first place - and for what? The direction isn't clear because the core is ONE story here. We have far more than the core signed/retained with no signs of easing up on that.

The direction is that they like what they see in some players and want to keep it. We're about to sign Pettersson to an extension - because - instead of dealing him for futures. How does that help us now or in the long run? He's 28 years old and we're going to sign him through his 30s, where we're utterly not competitive at all instead of cashing in on his very fair deal right now.

Wish you understood rebuilds.

Just trust the HFPens board. They know.

Dubas has a plan.

Jake deserves to go to UFA.
Yup. He earned the choice in free agency. And no one should blame him for choosing a better cup chance. Better money. Or both.

We got our Cups out of this core. We owe them our thanks if the journey takes any of them elsewhere. They owe us nothing more.

If they we’re rebuilding why sign a 10 million dollar defender rebuild last year an not have less than 2 players under 25 years old a rebuild consist of 2-3 veterans max not 16-20 lol the sharks are in a rebuild been duping vets to acquire draft picks hens the 30+ picks they have over this draft an the next 2 that’s a rebuild not picking up a 4th line center who’s no better than Carter an has the Same 3 million dollars cap hit you could of easily signed benstrom as a 4 th line center look what happened to the Nelander trade the kid actually got a chance to play made us look. Stupid good rebuilding. #firesullivan
Easy. Pens were TRYING to compete last year, but failed twice now we have to know we are truely done. Especially if we keep the same coach where 100% of teams would fire the coach by now. Now they know it's time to start rebuilding. Our core went out with a wimper instead of a BANG.

Not saying this to be excuse making but feel like it’s rare that any similar long standing cores in the league go out with a bang. It happens but most of the time, it’s not smooth and easy.

Rebuilding is what Conroy and the Flames are currently doing, trade aging UFA's for assets and getting younger. Pens are doing the exact opposite.

The core deserve to choose.

It seems that they have.
