  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Currently achievement hunting in Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus. I take breaks playing The Walking Dead: The Final Season (which is quite different from the other seasons).

I also started A Way Out playing casually with the gf.

Finally onto Baldurs Gate III and I’m already addicted and finding myself looking forward to playing when I get home in the evenings. I’m about 3 hours in and just got through the “Dank Crypt” and am finding the combat to be a little easier than DOS2’s was early on so that’s a positive. I struggled mightily with that game in the early stage

Heh, I thought Divinity combat was easier but I also knew nothing about DND rules going into BG3. I just thought the combat system in Divinity was easier to understand with the AP system. After playing both, I still liked Divinity's combat more. I thought it was more interesting to know you have X AP and use them accordingly. If you want to stand still and take two attacks, you can. You weren't limited to one attack per turn (for many classes anyway.)

I tried Factorio and it's just not for me. I don't have the time to learn and appreciate all the intricacies of the game. I played through the tutorial, tried playing myself, and it was still too confusing to do everything I wanted to do. If I had more time to learn, I'd probably be interested, but I just can't get into it at this point.

Casually going through The Witcher 3 on NG+ Death March. My only complaint is all my grandmaster gear I spent hours hunting down is all under-leveled now. Not a huge deal since the game isn’t that difficult but a little annoying nonetheless.

Finished this up the other day. Overall a pretty rad game especially if youre into arthurian legend. Only real complaint is that the scaling can be a bit weird, youll find yourself a couple levels under leveled even after doing all the side missions.

Started up an Ironman Wartales run, lost my company after proceeding to the next area in the game, running it back and doing a better job at leveling up my troops and min maxing this more this time around to make sure i craft all the weapons and armor i need with my blacksmith.

RDR2 is held back by Rockstar's outdated approach when it comes to missions. If you don't do things exactly as you are told then you fail. A game like KCD2 gives you so many options on how to deal with different situations and it encourages you to experiment.
I haven't played RDR2, but that has annoyed me in the past in GTA games. I remember one mission in which I had to camp out with a sniper rifle, watch a meeting go down and then shoot the bad guys after it goes bad. On my 2nd try, I got impatient waiting for the scripted sequence to play out and the deal to go bad, so I opened fire early. Mission Failed. If the deal goes bad no matter what and the bad guys end up dead no matter what, what difference does 30 seconds make? Let me slaughter them early and get it over with. :innocent:

I can give the GTA games a pass since they came out more than a decade ago and are products of their time.

RDR2 came out in 2018. A modern sandbox game should not sell you the idea that you can do whatever you want then put a collar on you and lead you on a leash on missions. That you have to do things exactly as you are told or be rewarded with automatic failure.

If they use the same formula in the next GTA game; they better get called out on that as it would simply be unacceptable.

Played Assassin's Creed Shadows a few hours over the weekend.
The storyline is decent so far, better than the last few games. I'm enjoying the gameplay and the noticeable differences between Yasuke and Naoe. The world itself is beautiful...

Started playing Black Flag again (on PS5 this time instead of Switch) and apparently the rest mode didn't get patched in so I have to close the game every time I'm done instead of putting the console in rest mode and the game suspending where I left it.

How do you feel about Wartales? I randomly came across it in the steam store and it caught my attention, but a lot of the reviews say it gets really tedious after the first two areas. I'm intrigued by a lot of it, especially the sort of feel of XCom, or maybe the Battletech game that came out a few years ago, but that consistent comment made me pause. I'll likely pull the trigger on it at some point, maybe after I finish KCD2 and wait for the DLCs to drop, but I'm curious how you feel about it.

I will say that I do actually enjoy grinding (to an extent) in order to upgrade your 'base'/characters/equipment, I am the type of person that has a full Colonel team + a few that can switch in my near end game XCOM, so I don't tend to out pace myself from a story perspective (the opposite actually). What concerns me is getting to a point where every fight is basically the same and take the 30ish minutes people are mentioning.

I absolutely love it personally. My first play through was like 166 hours or something like that but that includes the Pirates DLC and i did a TON of content. Its probably in my top 10 favorite games ive ever played.

The battles scale with the size of your team so the bigger your team the more enemies there will be. My first play through i had a bigger team and towards the end of my play through it did get a bit tedious so your concerns are valid and true. And there are a lot of fights in the game as well because of the open world environment. But i also feel like thats a problem with the genre in general (endgame being a bit tedious and repetitive) but thats my personal opinion.

This play through im keeping my team to around 6 people to try and keep the battles shorter and make sure there less enemies to try and avoid that problem. Theres professions in the game like a miner, blacksmith, alchemist, fisherman etc etc and 6 seems to be the sweet spot to where you have all the important professions covered because theyre huge for you team, like the blacksmith for example can craft your gear for your team (helmets, armor, weapons) and theres a little mini game involved and depending upon how you do the gear can roll better stats. My first play through i wanted a mercenary for each profession and dont think its really needed after ive already done a play through already. You can also capture people and keep them in your camp as prisoner to help cover up some of professions that youre are missing. For example i captured someone and use them for my miner, woodcutter, and scholar.

Appreciate the feedback, I am going to give it a go! I am 100% the person that would try to max out the squad size to get 'one of everything' so I will keep that advice in mind too. Will report back once I get it and sink my teeth into it.

I wanted to suggest utilizing all the professions in your first play through but didnt want to add more to my post lol. But your concerns for the game will come to fruition (long battles, a lot of enemies etc etc)

The pirates DLC and the Skelmar invasion DLC are worth it ignore everything else.
