Tristan Jarry has clear expectations of himself this season with the Pittsburgh Penguins.

After sitting behind presumed backup Alex Nedeljkovic in 12 of the final 13 games last season, the 29-year-old goalie wants to be in as often as possible.

“I think just being able to play more games, to win more games, I think that’s always a goal of mine,” Jarry said on Sept. 20.
“We all believe in Tristan,” Sullivan said. “He’s a quality NHL goaltender. We think there’s another level to his game. The expectations are high, so we’re going to push him to be at his very best. I think, when you look at how the season ended down
the stretch last year, I think Jars would’ve liked to have had the net a little more than he did. I’m sure that’s motivated him in the offseason.

“Jars is a proud guy. He’s a competitive guy. He’s a quality goalie. I think he has a certain mindset that he wants to come in and he wants to prove that he’s the quality goalie that we all expect him to be. And that will play itself out in due time.”

I think if they contain the Sabres intensity for the first 10 minutes or so, they’ll win the game and will probably out play Sabres in the 2nd and 3rd

Also if Pittsburgh is above .620 by thanksgiving, would anyone be willing to trade B grade futures?

I don't think im willing to part with a single pick ot prospect, no matter how good we look. But in a hockey trade for an under 25 roster player for example, then i guess some prospects/picks might be in play.

I think it's 0.2% we look good enough for Dubas to even think about selling futures though. I think there's a better chance of us selling players (Pettersson, Eller, Doc, pulju etc) even if we are in a playoff spot at the deadline than us adding.

No matter what anyone here wants, I think they think they owe it to Sid and Geno to try.

I think Thanksgiving is too early and they'd probably wait closer to the deadline, but if they are in a playoff spot, I fully expect them to add.

Buffalo is one of those teams that have been acquiring so many good young players but never seem to take the next step. Maybe the 4 GMs and 7 HC in 11 years has to do with it.

People practically giving tickets away, might pay the $13 and go see some of their future studs.

If Peterka is back, I expect him and other Pens’ killer Tage Thompson to go off and win this game for Buffalo…also UPL is huge and usually stones us…expect a loss tonight…also it’s a prime time game so we usually lose those too lol…

Only hope is that Sid and Geno reach their milestones…

I'm anticipating a Detroit/Montreal-level game, meaning it's winable and should be good.

It will be interesting to see the line combos, particularly with the 3rd line. At the moment, I'm trending much more towards - send McGroarty to WBS and then rotate Puustinen in and out. I would even be willing to rework the 4th line a bit.

Actually looking into it a little more the Sabres haven't NOT picked in the first round since 2007. And since then often multiple times (three in 2022!). Plus... and maybe most importantly... they've had a BONANZA of second round picks over the years. Those are the real heavy hitters.

Let this be a lesson to all of you on how you successfully rebuild. Ya buncha nostalgic, sentimental goofs.

I agree McGroarty would be better served playing in WBS.

I think the 4th line has looked good enough I don't want to mess with it considering all 3 of those guys were coming into the season will low expectations.

Line 2 and line 4 have been good. I'd rather play musical chairs between line 3 and line 1. One or both of DOC and Pool Party would bring more jump to Sid's line and denoting Beau and/or Rust would give them the kick in the pants then need move their feet.

I know it's unheard of because he hasn't 'earned' it, but I wouldn't mind scratching Beau and trying McGroarty on Sid's LW for a game or 2. He seems to have a pretty good understanding of where to be on the ice and if there's 1 guy who's good at getting pucks to someone, it's Sid.

If that doesn't work and he's still looking like he's the HS, then send him down.

I could play musical chairs with every line at this point:

Beau-Sid-Raks
DOC-Geno-Rust
Bunt-Eller-Puustinen
Hayes-Accari-Puljujarvi

I don't think this should be an unheard of take at all. If Groat was good enough to make the roster as one of their best forwards he should be eligible to be moved up at least on a trial basis to have a look. That's what like... coaching and development is. Groat profiles as a hopeful top six player, Sid's line needs work anyway and he's be skating next to Sid flippin' Crosby. I don't think the whole season would blow up in the team's face if that were a thing for a game or two.

Regardless they need to do something with Groats. This is a waste. A predictable waste but a waste.
