I wouldn't mind Roberto if we get him for a Campbell/Olesz type trade. I don't think we need him but he'd be an upgrade in net and would only benefit Markstrom next season.

Doesn't Theo have to okay a trade?

Yes, but I guess we would have to see if that would be a problem.

Just some news I see on twitter...

The truth on Luongo: Until the Florida Panthers inform Canucks they have no interest in him, he won't approve a trade to anywhere else."

Theo has a NTC. Clemmer makes more sense for us because he's signed for next season and doesn't have a NTC.

Okay, so if the Canucks want to move him we'll pretty much steal him like we did with Brian Campbell.

I guess so. Trade talks seem to be picking up, I don't know if they are allowed to do anything yet. But it seems like a trade might happen soon, although, we have been hearing this for a while now.

Yup Clemmer is more likely because of Theo wanting to retire a Panther. Probably works out better for Vancouver too since Clemmer is accepting of a backup role anyway.

Works out better for us too in that if we acquired Luongo (and its a BIG if), then Theo is probably the backup this yr to Luongo and then Markstrom can be the backup next yr.

The only way a deal with Luongo coming back works is if the Canucks are taking salary back. Luongo is paid $6.7M per yr and thats too much IMO for Panthers ownership (from what I have gathered).

I was thinking Upshall or Kopecky goes with Clemmer to Van.

My guess is that the Panthers are going to wait for Luongo to be an "amnesty buy-out" and sign him to a decent deal for us.

If Luongo want to come here, he won't waive is no trade clause to go to Toronto, so it will tie Vancouver's hand. He'll fall on our lap if we have any interest in him. If we say we don't want him, he's going to waive and get traded.

This page has mentioned Luongo, but no lines. It's imperative to post lines any chance you get in any thread. Sigh. Loungo and lines every page already. Welcome back, Cats.

Yup, thats the only way the salary part works out. Upshall + Clemmer would move about $4.6M in salary while adding Luongo's $6.7M salary so we add about $2M in real salary. Throw in a 1st rounder and maybe a non top 5 prospect and thats fair value to the Canucks IMO.

I really feel like a 1st rounder is overpayment. Maybe give them a guy like Robak. I don't see how they have any leverage. Tallon should steal him or not take him at all.
