Let the Luongo talk begin

"I believe the Florida Panthers are going to do everything in their power to get Roberto Luongo," said TSN Hockey Analyst Darren Pang. "The Panthers know he wants to be there."

That's important because Luongo has a no-trade clause, which could give Florida an edge.

This needs to happen already. The rumors are annoying and delusional Canucks fans need to realize he's not worthy of Bjugstad or any top prospect after the trade occurs.

I couldn't have woken up to better news this morning :yo: I didn't want to believe the rumors until a final decision was made, but I'm so incredibly glad that it actually happened. I can't wait to be at the arena to see that banner being raised!

Some people I've talked to today say that the place will only be half full and people in South Florida just don't care. I disagree and think it's going to be sold out. So many fans like ourselves have been waiting for this moment for so long. Sure, everyone is mad that negotiations took so long and both side were full of greed with the process, but I can't understand the people who can turn their backs on the sport forever. Now, we're all just waiting to find out when this Opening Night will exactly be :handclap:

I'm curious, how many people do you guys think go the Panthers games that are just casual fans? By casual I mean fans that aren't diehard fans (that are upset about the lockout and feel unappreciated), but fans that didn't really care that there was a lockout and are just going to the arena knowing that hockey is back on.

I feel like there are plenty of fans who just go to have a fun time/probably don't care about the team. Those are casual fans, but they'd probably still go for entertainment purposes.

Yeah, I believe those fans will still be there. I just have the impression that only a small percentage of diehards MIGHT boycott so there shouldn't be that huge of an attendance hit for us.

Anybody want markstrom to be up with the team, since hes in game shape ? we can't afford theodore or clem having a slow start since the season is shorter. Also huberdeau should make the team , hes in game shape and would be a great to have in the line up

Huberdeau is in game shape and he's got motivation to perform well after failing to medal in the WJC.

That's a great question regarding Marky. I certainly wouldn't mind.

And keep three goaltenders on the team? I dont think so. Besides, wasnt both Clemmer and Theodore skating with the other players during those informal workouts? Markstrom needs to stay where he is at now. Im sure we will see him if one of our goalies miss some games due to injury.

I understand your point of view but theodore and clem haven't played any games, workouts are one thing , games are another. Markstrom is in great game shape , id certainly consider bringing him up, in this short season. We can't afford theo or clem working threw rust , because before you know it , season is done and no playoffs

No, just say Clem is hurt. Haha Seriously, I'd imagine Marky will stay with San Antonio. He did bring up a good question. Before you know it, you could be out of the playoff race quickly.

With that said, this draft crop is nice so it wouldn't be the end of the world if we fell short of the playoffs.

Keep Markstrom in SA for now and let him get more playing time there. He's going to be more important for us next season than now.

Anybody know how Matthias is injured or what's the word on that? Didn't hear anything about him having injury problems.

I agree about Markstrom, he needs to continue developing in SA, best not to mess with him right now.

He had a concussion while playing in Austria. No idea if he's ready or not

what is everyones realistic expectations for huberdeau i'd say in a 50 game season if he can put up 20-30 points i'd be happy.

also depends what line he plays on and how much power play time

I don't see it happening. Vancouver still wants something of value, which the Panthers are not willing to give up under the circumstances. A team in a different position than the Panthers will offer better assets. I know Luongo wants to come here but the bottom line is that's his problem.

I don't see the Panthers sending Huberdeau back down to juniors. Especially after Tallon himself said that there is nothing left for Huberdeau to prove down in juniors.

Hey all, glad hockey's back.
So, many teams are only inviting some of the top young guys to camp in addition to the expected roster. Assuming junior aged players (excluding Huberdeau) are kept with their junior teams (i.e. Trochek, Shaw, etc.), what guys from San Antonio would you expect to be in FLA's camp? I'd assume we'd have Howden, Shore, Wellman, Petrovic, Robak, and maybe Rheault. It'll be interesting to see how that works, given that the AHL will still be playing.

i would think howden, shore, wellman, timmins stratchan will be up since he is on a 1way or do they keep him down so he doesn't have to clear waivers again?

petrovic or robak only for competitions sake since we have some depth at defense

I'm so glad hockey is back! The NFL was about to be over, great timing! :handclap:

Welcome back boys, it's been too long!

Let the panther under minding, and bashing continue. :handclap: Check the main boards for ammo.

Can't wait to make the playoffs again and prove everyone wrong.

any word on how long bergy will be out for or is he ready? and if matthias is out as well i have the lineup as:

Fleischmann-Weiss-Versteeg (obviously)
Huberdeau-Goc-Mueller (wanna keep both mueller and huberdeau on the wings)
Kopecky-Santorelli-Upshall (or Upshall-Kopecky-Skille, theres so many different combos you can do for this line)
Parros-Smithson-Skille

Campbell-Kuba
Kulikov-Weaver
Jovanovski-Gudbranson/Ellerby/Strachan

I'd like to see it (bias though).

Also see what Howden/Shore/Petrovic/Robak got with injuries in our current lineup/guys not in game shape (ie. Guds).

Some of those guys haven't even proven themselves in the AHL (like Petrovic) so I hope we don't rush anyone.

I actually want Markstrom to make the team, but we already have two goalies under contract. This is why I disliked the Scott Clemmensen deal...
