Kapanen’s curl up has infected the entire squad.

There was one play where Guentzel had the puck on his forehand in a decent spot to shoot, with both Rust and Crosby going to the net, and he instead curled and passed it back to Pettersson for the inevitable head high muffin shot that was easily blocked by the goalie.

It's like, f*** off with that. Try something creative other than passing back to defensemen who shoot as though they're using rubber sticks.

The annoying part is when a simple play is the best play and they choose THAT moment to do some stupid behind the back, no-look drop pass to a linemate that's in double coverage.

I like both players, but neither one above the team. There’s plenty of fanboys on both sides of the Geno/Sid spectrum. One side thinks the other is always out to get their guy. It gets tiresome.
As a fan of both, there's a clear side with fans - Crosby has his loyalists here that seem to explain away his bs, but when Malkin snaps, it's like he's done the team dirty.

When Crosby glove punched Dowd, the Caps scored with the extra man, negating the powerplay, so they maybe don't want to admit it as much. But Sid has been doing random dumb shit like that for years without getting as much of the outrage Geno gets for his.

In another Caps game, Sid launched that caps bloke into the boards with a throw and apparently that was ok too. But if they did that to one of the Pens players, we'd be freaking out.

The end board passes from the dmen are an instant classic too. They work like 20% of the time. The other 80% of the time, the puck is going the other way with numbers.

I think Geno might get a couple for this.

Everytime I see Geno snap, I get pissed off that NHL teams and coaches are actually allowed to tell their players to go out and take as many cheap shots and liberties on Malkin as possible. Like it’s a f***ing game plan. Then when he finally turns around and snaps they’re all confused as to why it happens.
We saw it in the 24/7 series with Boudreau literally saying to do this during a team meeting.

Everyone gave Nash shit for his terrible old boys view on taking liberty on skill guys. Why is a coach telling your players to go take as many slashes and infractions on Malkin as a strategy any different? If the league wants to move away from this shit, maybe start with that. Not excusing Malkin, but why are people surprised when this happens?
