Vancouver plays a lot like Ottawa last year. They usually have a forward way up ice hoping for a stretch pass or a big ricochet off the boards to spring them. Similar to how Ottawa calmed down this year I expect Vancouver to do the same, that kind of hockey is not sustainable to winning. I could see Miller being this years Duchene for the same reason, Vancouvers play style could prop up some players point total. That’s definitely a team I want to play in the playoffs though if the Avs snag the 1st seed. A healthy Avs team playing in games that loose would be really fun to watch.

Hall on this team, with this team's injury luck this year? He would've tripped getting onto the plane and been "day to day"

I mean true. It's more the principle of the thing. On the one hand, injuries suck. On the other, it would be interesting to see someone spontaneously combust for the first time in the history of the game.

It's not like the Avs played poorly tonight. Multiple opportunities to tie this game up in the 3rd, from the Girard pass to whoever that was in the slot, to Namestnikov killing a 2-on-1, to Nieto having hands of stone with a wide open net, to Bellemare somehow hitting the post on Demko from a horrible angle.

Just wasn't our night. But not for a lack of effort. Just a lot of stupidity on the ice tonight.

Frustrating. I liked the Avs effort tonight. Poor goaltending and lack of finish was the difference.

I’m encouraged by MacKinnon’s play in the last two games. The shot is still not back, but at least he’s creating. If Mikko is on that line tonight, I think they probably get another goal, or two.

Just need the skill guys back.

Can you imagine? Halfway through the Avs-Devils game they pan over to Hall as he's sitting in the press box, and as they are announcing the deal we see a horrified look on Hall's face as he immediately bursts into flames

Trash coach is a bit much he has some stubborn tendencies but the avs could do a f*** ton worse coaching wise. Macks a hothead nothing more to it, dude needs to vent at times im sure the coach and team are well aware of it and know how to deal.
No denying that MacK is a hot head but Bednar needs to learn that the only reason he has a coaching career is because of MacK so he better start protecting him instead if bitching him out when he is the only reason we are in the game.

Hes not gonna wow you the way Cale can with amazing rushes but hes damn cerebral and he moves the puck and skates as well as Cale.

Different skaters. Hughes is way more polished despite being younger, he's more sure with the puck and he's got more grace/fluidity when he is skating. What you get with Makar is that sudden burst where something crazy happens.

I really want Girard to become our Hughes, but he simply doesn't have the vision. He's got the escapability and opens up lanes like crazy with his skating, but 7/10 times he's making the wrong decision with the puck.

Tough loss, but f***, when you're missing Burakovsky, Kadri, and Rantanen, that's a hell of a lot of finishing power out of your lineup. No wonder we get so little scoring out of so much pressure when our opportunities end up on the sticks of guys like Nieto and Jost.

Both Francouz and the defense had some really rough moments.

They really sent Kaut, who was playing well, down for contractual reasons and then gave his replacement less than four minutes of ice time when they’re already struggling up front and hurting for depth. Embarrassing.

He's taken some strides this year imo, he still has a ways to go. But he might hit 40+ points this year, for a guy that looked like 20's was his range I'll take the babysteps hes still young.

Landy called out the refs in the game for the EJ call, surprising cant say I ever remember him doing that before.
Should of, it was a dangerous play by one guy, possibly major penalty, and ends up being 4v4 because the refs are trash.

Not really. Hughes might not have shown it tonight but hes very much just as fast as Cale. Passes as well as Cale. Seriously, the only thing hes not as good or better than Cale in his shot and hes not nearly as physical. Thats it.

I’m honestly shocked you believe that, in terms of the skating.

Makar skates like MacKinnon. From what I’ve seen from Hughes, he does not.

Hughes does some things better than Makar, but skating is not one of them.

Just get freakin healthy, that's all I'm asking for. You cant blame losses on guys like Donskoi, Jost, Compher etc.. Francouz didnt play well but he's human too, cant carry a injured team on his back all year long.

Seems like a lot of people here ignore the fact that the Avs missing very important players to keep winning games. If injuries dont matter and the blame is on Francouz for losing, let's just trade Rantanen, Kadri, Burakovsky and Makar for a top of the line goalie, then Avs will win every game.
